Riggwelter Ale takes its name from a local Yorkshire Dales farming term which has Norse roots; “rygg” meaning back, and “velte” meaning to overturn. A sheep is said to be rigged or ‘riggwelted’ when it has rolled onto its back and is unable to get back up without assistance.
Riggwelter has a wonderfully complex palate with hints of coffee, bananas and liquorice combining for a classic Golding hop finish.

0.5 l bottle from 'The English Shop' (Dortmund), bottled in September 2017. Clear, ruby with a thin, frothy, stable, off-white head. Sweetish-malty, slightly fruity and a bit herbal-grassy aroma of raisins, prunes, caramel and some licorice. Sweetish-malty, slightly fruity and a bit herbal-grassy taste of raisins, blackberries, plums, caramel and a touch of licorice, followed by a short, moderately bitter, rather herbal-grassy finish with a touch of roast. Medium body, smooth and slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Pretty nice!

Dark, clear ruby-amber beer with a thin off-white head. Malty, fruit aroma. Taste has malt, apple, toffee, raisins. A touch of hop too. slightly watery in the aftertaste but decent.

Bottle. Deep bronze colour. Clear. Nice long living cream-coloured head. Aroma: caramel, toasted malts, brown bread, esters, spicy hops. Taste: dry caramel & toast. Medium spicy bitterness. Good ale.

Flasche (50 cl) vom City Shop im Grand Summit, Peking. - Tiefstes Kupferrotbraun, klar, sparsamer Schaum. - In der Nase gebranntes Malz mit Karamel und Mokka. - Antrunk wuchtig röstmalzig mit kräftigem Espresso, Melanoidinen, etwas Bitterschokolade und zarter Ale-Fruchtigkeit, abgerundet mit einer guten Dosis englischen Hopfens. Kaum süß. Vollmundig, schwer. Im Abgang wuchtiger Goldings-Hopfen mit sehr kräftiger Bittere. Langer, stark bitterer Nachhall. - Großartiges, schweres und schön bitteres Ale.

Bottle, 0.50l. Clear brown color with thin creamy tan-like color with flat visible carbonation. Aroma of toasted and mild roasted malt, dry fruit and herbs. Taste starts with medium sweet toasted malt, follows grassy and fruity, while finish is pleasant moderate bitter. Medium body, slick texture and soft to average carbonation in palate. Not so strong, but pretty tasty...

Super dobre i tresciwe angielskie Ale. Wreszcie spora i puszysta piana, do tego trwala. Kolor brazowy dosc ciemny, ale o przezroczystej barwie. Piwo jest naprawde wyraziste, slod ale taki z podgrzanymi tostami, nieco przyrumienionych orzechow na patelni, glownie laskowe. Uzupelnia te tostowosc goryczka srednia ale utrzymujaca sie w podniebieniu dosc dlugo. Na zakonczenie wraz z goryczka otrzymujemy placek czy moze tarte francuska z jablkami smazonymi. Super Ale

500ml bottle pours out a amber topped with a sand head. Nose is malty sweetness some toast malts and nutty notes. Taste is more of the roast malts nutty and some spice.
