It's a blend of two ales: Old 5X , which is brewed to the maximum strength possible (around 12% abv) and left to mature in 100-barrel oak vats for a minimum of two years. And a blend of BPA, a dark, full-bodied freshly brewed beer which is added just before bottling. The result is a unique beer – strong, dark, fruity, oaky and very, very special!

Old reviews from 13-04-15 - 330ml Strong Suffolk Dark Ale, part of compilation box, also previously had this as 500ml bottle Strong Suffolk Vintage Ale which is one & the same it seems. Pours near black with a beige foamy head. Aromas & tastes of dark fruits, toffee, wood, hints of spice & malt. Medium body. Moderate bitter finish. Very enjoyable.

Bottle. Very good ale. Smelled like a old clean cellar. Brings back memories of my youth. Taste was slightly fruity and slightly woody. Great after taste. Highly recommend this beer.

Picked one up0 at the LCBO. Not bad, Next to no head. Aroma is raisins, and almost like red wine.
Mouthfeel is kinda thin.....caramel with winey raisin taste. good, but not great.

Historical tick which I am adding as a rate so that I can see the impact it has on my stats. 500 Beers To Try Before You Die. Beers of Europe. Decent stuff. It surprised me.

Bottle thanks to Rasmusott. Thanks! Pours hazy dark brown with a medium brown head. Aromas of caramel, dark sweet fruits, bananas, malty, chocolate. Taste is caramel, malty, bready, light metallic, sweet, fruity.

Bottle. Dark brown color. Toffee in the malty, vinous aroma. Full bodied. Malt, toffee and hints of oak and wine in the flavor. Maybe a bit sticky, but well balanced. Would love to try the stock ale straight from cask.
