Nostalgic, influential and a journey to be enjoyed from beginning to end. Malty chewiness slowly transitions over to herbal, earthy hops that make way for the crisp, dry finish of this multi-award-winning ale.

This ale poured a clear, darker amber colour with a quick living, rocky style head. Scents include ripe fruit, grassy hops and sweet malts. First sip was slightly thin, medium hop flavour. Flavours of toast, cereal and a little dough. Finish is medium bitter with malt/bitterness lingering.

Bottle from Bottle Shop Canterbury. Hazy orange russet colour. Lasting cream coloured head. American malty aroma. So interesting having the Chiltern beer before this where the six row malt is so much better. So as an ESB this wont win on the malts as you start behind already. And it has that stale travelled from America aroma. Some sweet fruit on the malts some peppery hop. Ok. But i am sure better fresh.

Bottle from my Secret Santa, many thanks. Amber color with small white head. Malty, fruity aroma with hints of toffee and vanilla. Taste, roasted malt, caramel, red fruit, pines, bitter hops. Light bitter finish. Good beer.

Pours a rather muddy, hazy, dishwater brown with little to no head. Malt is noticeable in the aroma and the flavor, which also includes some spiciness (was that cinnamon?) and nut flavors. Rather thin in mouthfeel and has a bitter finish.

Draft. Variegated golden brown color, solid white head with amazing retention, nice lacing. Aroma of rising pumpernickel bread dough. Taste is very smooth, light, nitro-like. Needs a tad more bitterness.

12 oz bottle purchased as a single at MDL in Overland Park, Kansas. Bottled on is printed on the label, though I don’t see an actual date. Pour is a lightly hazed copper with a one inch light tan head. Aroma is baking sweet caramel, toasted malt, and a bit of a grassiness. Fresh and clean nose. Taste is more of the toasty malt up front, followed by the caramel (though sweetness is less than nose suggested) and finally a bit of rough grass earthiness. A touch of sharp acidity accomponies some mineral in the finish. Palate is medium bodied, though this is cut nicely by active carbonation, a pleasantly un filtered mouth feel and the dry mineral finish. Nice character, and easy drinking.

Hazy orange colour with a small off-white head that stays all the way. Moderate aromas of grain, sweet malt, and som yeast. Surprisingly sweet and some frutiy in the mouth, nearly towards soda. Light bitternes. Slick and a bit thin and medium bodied. Soft carbo. Overall a different kind of ale, but not my cup of tea. Feels too sweet, with not enough hops to balance it more out.

Draught @ Patricks Pub og Restaurant, Kristiansand
Pours hazy amber with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, fruity and grassy hops. Taste is medium to heavy sweet and light to medium bitter. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
