Our Grand Prestige, brewed with four different malts, is also described as barley wine. In the ripe, full taste, bitter and sweet are remarkably well-distinguishable.
The taste of Hertog Jan Grand Prestige is appreciated by connoisseurs and enthusiasts far beyond our borders, as proven by, among other things, the golden awards at various renowned beer competitions.
As Grand Prestige is stored for longer, that wonderful taste develops even further. After a few years, the taste is reminiscent of a beautiful old port wine.

does not taste to-style for a me as a belgian quad. It tastes more like a strong porter. it is missing the belgian raisin flavours that make the style. The alcohol is well hidden though, and the beer is very balanced. beerwulf online bottle. 3.6 march 2019. Upgraded, still not quad-like but a mix of quad and barleywine, but this bottle is super clean and flavorful. Online beerwuld

Not nearly as heavy as the earthenware jug. A bit on the hollow side for a barleywine.

Pours dark brown, topped with a medium small tah coloured head, nonlasting. Malty, biscuity and slight chocolate aroma, but biscuity notes take over. Sweeter start, slightly soury cellar feeling about it. Medium bitterness. Strong and a bit boozy, but ok. Slightly too sugary.

300ml bottle bought at a Dirk van den Broek store. Patchy bubbly head, spare lacing, a ruby tint to a near.black body. Leather and dark fruity nose. Taste of sweet almond, prunes and raisin, jam-like impression. Sweet ending sustained by alcohol. Slow sipper, nice but a bit unvaried. (Shared with Leif, hotel room, Amsterdam 11.03.2018).
