12oz bottle pours a watery, mahogany amber with some frothy, white head. Smells fine, malt, chocolate, bread, standard porter aroma. Flavor is sweet, malty, bread, dark chocolate, brown sugar, coffee. Medium bodied, dry finish.

Bottle from Yamaichi via Rakuten. Maybe I was expecting more from De Molen as they are pretty famous and this is the first beer of theirs I’ve had. It poured an inky black with a light tan head which quickly dissipated leaving behind good lacing. The aroma is a bit on the weak side giving off some coffee notes. The flavor starts off sweet with caramel followed by roast malt which leads into a bit of a coffee flavor maybe even some berry sweetness hiding in there too. The body is too carbonated for a porter in my opinion and it is a bit too sweet. It’s pretty good but not so special.

Thx! to Kraddel for this one. 33 cl. bottle split. BBF 16/03/2013 so quite old going by De Molen dating conventions. Almost ruby very dark brown, beige head. Smell is touch oxidized, wild berries, oxidized, thin roasted grains, light sour, roast, old coffee,… Taste dusty bitter coffee grains, wild berries, sour streak, thin coffee grounds, thin mocha, old chocolate, old hops, herbal, touch sweetness,… Thin, suffering from issues. This batch at the very least if not beer is passable now.

bottle from Bierzerg. Deep brown colour, fluffy beige-brown head. Aroma of coffee and blackberies. Medium-bodied, malty base with chocolate and coffee, plus some fruity sourness reminding me of blackberries, but more in the background.

Huge brown head, far bigger than the body. Clear deep dark red body with strong carbonation. Earthy caramelly aroma with spicy notes. Dryish roasted sugar and caramel taste with spicy syrup and rye crisp bread notes. Mid-bodied. Mild mouthfeel. Dry spicy cinnamon and rye crisp bread aftertaste with chocolate and syrup notes. Nice, powerful, and interesting, especially for such a weak beer. (0.33l bottle, wine monopoly, Vika, Oslo.)

Very weak maple syrup and walnut hints. Hazy brown, thick, tan head. Roasted malt and walnut dominated flavor, lightly sweet maple syrup undertones. Astringent

330 ml bottle. Pours a dark mahogany with light head that dissipates quickly. Aromas of coffee, lightly burnt malts, and dark fruit. Light flavors of burnt coffee, nuts, and cocoa powder, but metallic and watery. OK
