Bourbon Barrel-Aged Russian Imperial Stout

Pitch black in color with a faint tan head that immediately identifies this beer as BIG. Aromas of dark fruits, chocolate, caramel and roast also make it even bigger. Roasted coffee and fruity chocolate notes are just the beginning of this stout's complex flavor. If this is wrong we don't want to be right.

Bottled. A pitch black beer with a thin brown head. The aroma has notes of alcohol, roasted malt, soy sauce, and bourbon. The flavor is sweet with notes of alcohol, soy sauce, roasted malt, wood, and bourbon, leading to a dry, alcohol, and roasted malt. The alcohol leaves a burn on the tongue. Thanks madsberg for sharing.

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of madsberg. Pours an opaque black with pretty much no head. Sweet Bourbon nose atop some very sweet roast. Solid body, no carbonation whatsoever, slightly tart hard roast, some pruney dark fruit and sweet roast. Lots of warming Bourbon leaving a boozy finish. Lovely - in spite of the lack of carbonation. 311011

Big thanks to footbalm for this one. This was one of the tasty beers of the night. It pours dark void with mocha head and dark glass staining legs. The aroma has quick hits of fudge brownie and a bit of dark roasted malts and then it gets somewhat spicy with oak as well as picks up some vague booziness. The taste is similar with rich yummy fudge brownie and then dark roasted malts. It then moves toward a mild level of smooth sweet bourbon and wood notes. Terrific creamy smooth goodness marbled with YUM!

sampled at last summer’s Michigan Brewer’s Fest - Pours black with a dark tan head and good lacing. The aroma is of bourbon, chocolate, and roast malt. It has a big, bold roast malt and bourbon flavor. This very full bodied beer goes down loaded with tasty goodness and leaves a bourbony finish. Great beer.
