A super pale ale. Powerful hops give a lovely citrus burst followed by a crisp, clean finish.

Cask from The Pump House, Shirley. Light clouded gold with small white top. It has a citric and stone fruit tang, somewhat floral, hint of metal, drying and bitter but too astringent for me. Not that keen.

Cask at Grey Friar, Preston. Pours golden yellow with a small white head and excellent lacing. The aroma exudes a general sweetness with citrus and oranges noted. In the mouth it is sweet and juicy with lemon and floral hops plus traces of orange and underlying grains. Later on some bitterness creeps in leading to a slightly sharp and dry finish. Not the usual sort of beer I go for but this is quite nice – I have a soft spot for Mauldons beers. However, I would call this a golden ale or pale rather than a standard bitter.

Taste comprises toasted grains, light breads, hedgerow, straw, crackers. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close. Passable cask offering ... not much going on.

Cask - Pours a clear golden colour with a small thin frothy white head that quickly disappeared. Aroma is malty, bready and toasted malts with some hoppy notes. A moderately sweet malty taste, toasted malts and a moderate to light bitterness.

Cask @ White Hart, Todmorden. Clear blonde with a head. It's a crisp enough dryish pale ale with good clean water. It's hoppy with a slightly dirty nose.
