The Lupulus Hibernatus is a dark strong beer. At the end of the boiling, the brewers add a pinch of cinnamon. The mix with torrefied barley brings this beer a powerful character. The After-taste is at the same time bitter-sweet, and finish on coffee aromas.

Bottle from Dranken Geers, February 2014. Consumed at home Saturday 12th April 2014 Pours dark brown with filmy head a little spicey at end. Soft in mouth a little watery coffee shows, warmth from alcohol comes through, liquorice comes to the fore. A little soft grittyness, (like coffee sediment, but not so coffee flavoured). Mmmhhh... Its ok but I cannot finish it all (750ml bottle) A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov12 3.1

Bottle(750ml): Reddish-amber colored with a big loose off-white head that slowly collapses, mild sweetish-roasty and fruity nose with a delicate, but distinctive hoppy background; moderate to solid bitter-sweet flavour, medium to full bodied and pretty smooth; lingering dryish toasty and fruity finish with a distinctive hoppy aftertaste. Very good belgian stuff…

(bottle, 75cl) Hazy, mahogany colour with a beige and big foamy head. Dark malty, moderately earthy and toasted malty aroma with notes of dried fruits, candy, dark chocolate and a whiff of spicy hops. Bitter and moderately sweet flavour, full bodied with a well-carbonated mouthfeel. Dark malty base with mildly toasted accents, a slightly vinous fruity touch of dried fruits, chocolate and a tinge of spicy hops; bitter-sweet and lasting finish with an almost muted alcoholic strength. Balanced and tasty brew. 29.I.14

Bottle, 75cl corked. A dense, light beige head leaves lacings over an unclear, brown body. The aroma has a faint yeasty touch, caramel maltyness and sweetish dried fruits. It’s very smooth on the palate, lots of carbonation without feeling fizzy, and semi-dry. Caramel, dried fruits and some brown sugar in the flavor. A nice bitterness chimes in towards the end. Full body and lightly warming. Sweet finish with dried fruits and a balancing bitterness. A nice one, not extremely tasteful or complex, but sure a nice and repeatable one. 140118
