Tous les Noël ne se valent et celui qui nous est proposé ici par l'abbaye d'Aulne ne donnera pas énormément de magie. La faute premièrement à une structure défaillante avec un sucre trop poussé et un alcool trop poussif ne permettant pas à donner de l'allant mais également à des arômes pas assez attrayants sur une dominante caramel candy avec de légères épices pour essayer de nous donner l'impression que nous sommes à Noël. Joli visuel sur un ambré parfaitement limpide avec une fine effervescence donnant naissance à une mousse blanc cassé crémeuse de 5 mm d'épaisseur. Le nez est sur un cocktail caramel, candy, avec une légère cannelle et écorce d'orange. Si l'attaque présente une bonne intensité, l'ensemble est d'emblée trop sucré avec un manque de tension. Un petit côté pimenté apparaît en complément des arômes présents au nez. L'alcool quant à lui se fait un peu plus ressentir en rétro. L'alcool se renforce très légèrement en seconde plus pour atteindre une présence acceptable en arrière bouche et donner un minimum de tonus. Le final est relativement simplement mais d'une bonne longueur. Rien d'exceptionnel.

Bottle from Drinks Vanuxeem, Ploegsteert, Belgium. Pours a mahogany colour with a medium sized creamy beige head. Aromas of berries and jam. Taste has more berries and jam, dry dark fruits, caramel, chilli heat, peppery spice and warming alcohol. Medium body with a spritzy mouthfeel. Some sweetness lingering on the finish. Very decent, unique and Christmasy beer. Labelled as a Tripel but nothing like a Tripel i am used to . I have this one again though. Nice one.

Clear copper colour, small steady beige head. Quite spicey with banana sweetness. Medium-bodied. Caramel, banana, spicies which ruin a brew a bit. Otherwise ok.

Clear nutty in the glass and a fine tan head. Ok lacing Looks fine and inviting Fine intensity in the aroma. Caramel, fruity and yeast Balanced sweetness and a fine mild acidity to back it up Also an ok carbonation level. 75cl bottle from Cora in Brussels. F: big, tan to tanned, good retention. C: dark brown, hazy. A: sweet malty, bit dark fruits, raisisn, coriander, bit ginger bread, brown sugar, toffee touch, dried figs. T: full malty base, dark dried fruits, figs, dates, brown sugar, chocolate touch, bit vinous, the same label as “Abbaye d'Aulne Christmas Beer”, coriander, bit ginger bread, decent bitterness, medium to high carbonation, not bad yet quite commercial and of course not Triple as it is on the bottle yet Belgian Ale - Strong Dark.
