Belgian Saison brewed with local barley, wheat and rye from Riverbend Malt House of Asheville, North Carolina and aged on local bull’s blood beets from Bluebird Farm of Morganton, North Carolina. Dry hopped with a blend of Cascade and Mt. Hood hops. Expect notes of dirt/earth/soil, citrus hops and fragrant Belgian yeast.

Bottle sample at Beer Study bottle share in Durham. Hazy pinkish color, off white head. herbal spice aroma. Taste has subtle funk, mixed herbs. Pleasant.

Sample at the taproom. Hazy pinkish-orange color with a medium thin white head that evaporates steadily to a film. Stringy lacing on the glass. Floral aroma with yeast and malt notes. Medium body with flavors of Belgian yeast, floral hops and earthy malt, with a bit of citrus in the background. Don’t really get beets but they probably lend to the character on some level. The finish is floral and fruity with a yeast aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Bottle. Pours a hazy pink with medium off white head that lasts. The aroma is strong beet, earth, yeast. Medium body, similar flavors to nose, nice spice, light tartness, very good.

Draught @ CBC 2016 [ Yellow Session ]. - Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2016, Oksnehallen Vesterbro, Halmtorvet 11, 1700 Copenhagen, Denmark. [ As Fonta Flora Beets, Rhymes and Life ].Clear medium amber orange color with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, earthy, beetroot, tart earthy notes, tart beetroot notes. Flavor is moderate sweet and light acidic with a average duration, tart earthy notes, pale malt. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20160513]

Draught@CBC2016. Orangeish amber colour, small white head. Aroma is fruity, floral, wooden and some mild herbs to it. Flavour is beets, floral, earthy and grassy notes along with mild crisp maltiness.
