(Draught at Oliver Twist, Stockholm, 1 Dec 2018) Dark brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, fruity nose with roasted malt, dried fruit, prunes, raisins, dark bread and brown sugar. Malty taste with notes of dark bread, roasted malt, dried fruit, spices (anise, nutmeg, clove), chocolate and a mild spicy bitterness in a warming finish. Full body, with a certain sweetness. Really tasty and warming winter beer. Very nice. (7/4/8/4/15=3.8) Rerate: (Bottle, 26 June 2020) Dark brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty nose with notes of caramel, dried fruit, prunes, raisins, brown sugar, dark bread, toffee, ripe banana, almonds and chocolate. Malty taste with caramel, dried fruit, dark bread, brown sugar, chocolate, spices (nutmeg, clove, cinnamon) and a balanced spicy bitterness in the ifnish. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Complex and really tasty, works equally well on a warm summer evening as in winter time. Very nice.

33 cl bottle at El Gato Verde, Alcalá de Henares. It pours dark chestnut-hued with reddish hues and a nice, thick, long-lasting, beige head. Aroma es rather intense and sweet: loads of cherry, chocolate, cinnamon and some metallic scents. Taste is sweet, powerful, with a nice umami and metallic mouthfeel that yields to a long-lingering, bitterless finish. To sip calmly and thoughtfully, as all Xmas ales should, IMHO, be.

for the style it’s not as good as their flagship, it tastes a little bit more bitter, and consequently takes away from the body forward-ness. The nose is great, the taste is great, just need a bit more body to be great. bottle 3 years before expiration. Online belgian beer factory bottle

Appearance: Very dark brown, good amount of dark tan head. Aroma: Ripe fruits, dark fruits, bananas. Some malt and spices. Taste: Lots of fruits, sweet, caramel. Some malt, dried fruits. Dessert-like. Bought: Halle aux Boissons (Matran), 330 ml, CHF 3.20 Info: 2/3-2019, BB: 6/9-2022

33cl bottle from Abeervinum, Rimini, Italy. Pours a beautiful deep brown / purple, with originally an abundant head of cream foam, fine. Aroma is rich: malty, caramel, nuts, liquor. Body is a full mouth, though density is not sooo high. Carbonation is fairly high. Taste is pretty sweet, with just some bitterness to balance that out. Finish is long and warning.

Bottle at home. Three year old. Pours a dark reddish brown colour with a beige head. Aroma of dates, oak, cocoa, rye bread, caramel, licorice and liqueur. The flavour is similar with more leather, oak and raisins. Has a slick mouth feel, medium to full body and a light bitterness. Rich and malty.
