The newest one in the Musketeers' Bucketlist series to date, a kind of 'winter tripel' (dubbed with the in Belgium still often used, yet meaningless term 'grand cru'), from tap at De Geus Van Gent. Very thick and dense, foamy, egg-white, membrane-lacing head, almost clear amberish-tinged deep orange blonde robe, more orangey than most standard Belgian tripels. Aroma of candyfloss, peach 'jenever', banana-flavoured bubblegum, rainwater, canned apricots, caramel, almond, light background whiff of DMS (cooked Brussels sprouts) but subtle enough not to become too bothersome. Sweet onset, banana, peach and pineapple fruitiness, fizzy carbonation, full and soft, smooth body, bready maltiness with caramelly edges and a firm layer of residual honeyish sweetness on top; the DMS returns retronasally, but again - luckily - very subtly so. Soft floral hop bitter touch in the end along with mild herbal notes and a warming, again 'perzikjenever'-like alcohol glow. Sweet, warming tripel, more caramelly-malty than average and easily drinkable for its strength, but rather one-sided and simplistic. One that will certainly please the average Belgian specialty beer consumer, but for me, this Bucketlist series fails to impress the way e.g. their special editions of Troubadour Magma have done for consecutive years in the past.

Draught /I> Huge yellowish-cream head, dense, over pale copper beer; textbook lace. Intense malt nose, just a tad toasted, malt cookies, bread, smells as entering a working brewery. Dry, again grainy-malty, but with a wry extra - bitterish, but not really hoppy. Nettles, nettlecheese. Gradually maltsugars build up a sweet, almost sugary finish. Bitterness, however, grows more than abating warming up, but getting almondy. Medium bodied, quite slic, alcohol not entirely hidden. It's not bad - towards the sweet side but having its merits.

Clear copper colour with thin head. Aroma and flavour have some caramel malts, sweet raisins and warming alcohol. Candied jelly fruits in the aftertaste.

Pours clear amber. Small white head. Smell is full, creamy, caramelly malts, remains a bit fresh, even. Taste is full, caramelly, tad hops, just balancing out the otherwise overly sweet malts, but not making the beer bitter at all. Very well made, and dangerously drinkable.
