The chance to brew with long time idol Alan Sprints of Hair of The Dog is something we will cherish for the rest of our lives. Maja is a bourbon barrel aged barleywine brewed with maple syrup, lactose sugar and vanilla beans. Conceptually you could call it a “maple muffin barley wine”.

All flavours as promised. Sweet, thick and supple barleywine, with a ton of Omnipollo added. Rich, sweet maple. Soft, smooth vanilla. Bit of bourbon. Amazingly rich, sweet and desserty, but also still very beery. Best of both collaborators.

Bottle gifted by Marcus. Pours translucent darkish gold with a slight whitish head. Aroma of peaches and maple. Full bodied or close enough. Flavor is heat, maple, bourbon, peach and a few other things. This is one way "pickled" peaches ought to taste. Too bad good bourbon is so expensive. Way drier than expected. Heat and whiskey stand in for hop. It doesn't claim "barrel", but I think musty oak is in this. Like oh so many HoD ales, it is super scrumptious/delicious, making me regret the size of the bottle. Highly recommended.
