Two-tone, toe-tapping, ten-malt-porter. Monstrous amounts of fresh malts create a beer as black as the earl of hell to which some big piney hops are added to give a robust bitter finish. Quite often this beer can be aged in a barrel with some varying special ingredient.

Bottle @Il Santo Bevitore (Rome). Deep brown with a beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee and chocolate, liquorice and nuts. Flavour is not so characterized by malt as the label says. Chocolate, a touch of coffee and liquorice, dry and bitter end. Low body, medium to light carbonation. Qui te good.

Bottle. Pours a black color with a small off-white head. Has a roasted malty caramel and chocolate aroma. Roasted malty chocolate flavor. Has a roasted malty chocolate finish.

Bottle 500ml. [ As Cromarty Ghost Town Porter ].Clear dark black brown color with a large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to light beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, sweet malt. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, dark malt, roasted, light tart coffee - dark roasted malt. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20140314]

Black beer with a thin head. Aroma is caramel and malt but lighter than I expected. Flavour has a strong malty element but also a twist of sour fruit. It’s a nice balance to make it a bit different.

Bottle from Appellation Wines. Appearance - opaque black with a lovely fawn head. Nose - spicy biscuits. Some chocolate mousse. Taste - malty dry bread with a liquorice edge. Palate - medium bodied with a dry texture and a long dry finish. Overall - interesting dry porter. Has similarities with Old Ale style.

Bottle split at Bruce’s pad, thanks to Paulo, 27/03/14. Extremely dark mahogany brown with moderate light tan spotting/edgework. Nose is ripe dark fruits, toffee fudge, pinch of spice, dark malts. Taste comprises dark malts, light roast, toffee, hoppy backnotes. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying finale. Ok porter.
