A splendid, maroon-coloured beer with fine aromas of spiced fruit, orange peel and well-roasted malt to delight the nose. The flavour is a spicy balance of caramel, citrus and slightly bitter hops to restore that warm feeling during the dark days of winter. If stored in a cool, dark place, IJndejaars will keep for years.

2 years over the best before-date⦠brown-orange in the glass, plum in the nose. Or caramel apples. The beers is intense. Lots of plums, caramel, brown sugar. The mainpart is full flavoured. Deep. Smooth. The 9% are not present all the time! Caramel apples. Milk chocolate. Very fruity. Highly drinkable and full of aroma! The aftertaste is long, very long. Very smooth and full of aroma. The caramel apple and the smooth yeastiness lasts very long in the mouth.

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ Mitra, Wijk bij Duurstede. Hazy brown with an off-white head. Malty yeasty aroma. Semi-sweet taste. Not very special in my opinion.

2013 version. Cloudy dark amber colour, small beige frothy head, dissipates rather quickly, thin rim remains. Sweet and sour fruity aroma, orange peel, syrup, caramel, raisin, coriander, earthy hops, basement aromas, yeast. Taste medium sweet, light bitterness, bit peppery on the tongue, full body, creamy texture, soft carbonation, bittersweet finish, with a light sour bite. Needs some ripening.

dark, brownis-gold, cloudy colour (with some small particles) with creamy head; candy sugar aroma and greatly ballanced taste of roasted sugar, some minimal bitterness and alcoholic (however not too intensive) sweetness with some strange spycy aftertaste. Great Christmas ale.

330 ml bottle bought by my father in Rotterdam. Shared with Marsiblursi. 1999 vintage. Pours hazy brown with a fizzy brownish white head that quickly dissipates without leaving any trace on the glass. Smell is sweet with pumpernickel, leather, white pepper, prunes, raisins, dates, brown sugar, dusty cocoa and hints of yeasty esters. Taste is sweet, malty, yeasty and oxidized with dark bread, wood, vanilla, brown sugar, cloves, allspice and dark fruits. Mouthfeel is round and medium to full bodied. Finish is sweet with dark bread, spices, brown sugar and dusty cacao. Very interesting, oldest beer Iβve tried so far and it held up real well. Oxidized in a good way...
