A splendid, maroon-coloured beer with fine aromas of spiced fruit, orange peel and well-roasted malt to delight the nose. The flavour is a spicy balance of caramel, citrus and slightly bitter hops to restore that warm feeling during the dark days of winter. If stored in a cool, dark place, IJndejaars will keep for years.

Bottle @ home shared with my dad. Slightly hazy amber color, decent sized beige head that lasts for awhile. Smell malts, sweetness, lightly yeasty. Taste malts, sweet, yeast, some fruits, raisins, plums and grapes. Low to medium carbo, medium body. Better then expected.

33 cl bottle @ home, no BBE info
Looks like kotikalja and actually does also smell a bit like it. Aroma has metal, earthy notes, some dark fruits and hints of sugar. Flavour has alcohol, some sweet fruits – especially banana. Feels glueish. Dry finish with some hops. Somewhat sticky palate. Not very nice, feels like an unbalanced homebrew.

On draught at the Brouwerij. Pours a murky orange-brown color with a medium creamy off-white head that recedes slowly to a dense film. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of dark fruit, spices and malt. Full-bodied with flavors of caramel malt, raisins, spice and yeast. The finish is fruity and leaves a lingering spicy yeast aftertaste. Above average overall.

33cl bottle from Bierzwerg. BBE 10/2011. Poured hazy, brown color with a huge beige head, leaving nice lacings. Aroma is raisin, yeast and spices, hard to tell which. Very smooth palate. Flavor has more raisins, sweet malt and spicyness. Finish has some alcohol warmth. Excellent, very drinkable, alcohol nicely hidden without being too sweet either. Full bodied. A must try.

Bottle at home in London with Lyoli. Pours a hazy, brown-gols with a dense, light tan head. Yeasty nose with candi sugar and beefy malts. Flavor is rich and full, lots of candied sugar, sweet and doughy malts, hints of ripe fruits, dates and figs. Medium to full in body with lively carbonation. Modest warmth on the finish, more sweet malts, dough, Belgian yeast, sugary fruit. Very nice stuff.

Dark brown beer with medium and beige head. Aroma is full of dark fruits, some raisins, bananas and sourness; nice aroma that temptating to taste. Taste is also dark fruity, slightly sour and also some spicyness. Medium bodied and nice to drink. Enjoyable, but not a top beer, something "final touch" is missing.

Warning! Early amateur rating! Bottle as ’Turbock’. A creamy bock with a subtle fruit undertone. Malty and thirst quenching. Not at all bitter - quite a light taste.

33 cl bottle from 2002 or 2003 (BBE 09/2004). Tasted 18 October 2010. Pours a nice red brown color, with non lasting off-white head. Aroma’s of dried fruit, raisins, port, spices. Flavor is sweetish, fruity, spicy. Medium bodied. Finishes somewhat dry, but not bitter. Nicely developed. A bottle from the time when ’t IJ’s quality standards were much higher than they have been for a long time now.
