5 oz taster pour on tap at the Woburn location. It's an opaque black with no sparkle, finger-width light brown creamy head with good retention and nice rings of soapy lacing. Aroma is subtle roasted malt and woody/earthy. Taste is strong, rich roasted malt, dark chocolate, molasses and a hint of anise. Mouthfeel is medium-to-full bodied with thick, frothy texture, soft-to-average carbonation and finish as taste with lingering roasted bitterness. Overall, nice strong aroma and flavor with the flavor being more interesting.

Huge roasty notes and toast with some piney hops. Jet deep brown with a rich light brown head. Bitter, roasty and boozy with some dark chocolate and toast in the finish. Big and a bit brash.

12 oz. can from the Mansion. Pours a pitch black color with a tight beige head and very good retention. Good lacing. Aroma of roasted chocolate and booze. Flavor starts out a little roasted and black licorice and then any/all flavor is washed away by the 12.0% ABV. Actually the 12% ABV is hidden better than I expected, but it still numbs all other flavors.

12 ounce can into snifter, canned on 1/7/2019. Pours dense opaque pitch black color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky khaki head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big tangerine, red grapefruit, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, berries, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, roasted nuts, toasted biscuit, dark bread/crust, smoke, charcoal, herbal, floral, grass, and roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and dark/black/roast/bready malt notes; with big strength. Taste of huge tangerine, red grapefruit, lemon, peach, pear, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, berries, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, roasted nuts, toasted biscuit, dark bread/crust, smoke, charcoal, herbal, floral, grass, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, woody, floral, grassy, peppery hops; and roast/charred bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of tangerine, red grapefruit, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, berries, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, roasted nuts, toasted biscuit, dark bread/crust, smoke, charcoal, herbal, floral, grass, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and dark/black/roast/bready flavors; with an awesome hop/char bitter/sweet balance; and no cloying, acrid, astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering hop/char bitterness. Medium carbonation and full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/bready/grainy, and fairly sticky/chalky/resin/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Mild increasing warmth of 12% after the finish. Overall this is a fantastic hoppy imperial stout. All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and dark/black/roast/bready flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the huge ABV, with the modestly bitter/charred/drying finish. Nicely soft feel, not overly bitter/charred. Feels like Galaxy, Citra, Mosaic. Very juicy and fairly dank/earthy hops; with a perfectly balanced rich malt backbone. Light residual sweetness with lingering dryness. A highly enjoyable offering, and impressive style example. Literally just an imperial version of Meat and Potatoes, so more of an imperial black IPA than anything else.

Pours reddish brown, dark with a thin creme head. Aroma of chocolate malt and nuts. Taste is dry, intensely spiced and dark malty. Palate is hoppy, has a distinct hazelnut whiff on the nose. High ABV is apparent.

Pours a dark blackish brown from a can, edges show a tinge of red. Big roasted malt aroma. Flavor is same but with tobacco notes, pretty good beer.
