Dark brown, thin head, dark brown, thin head, toffeeish sugars, super sweet, rich pastry character but it’s really just vanilla. That’s kind of interesting.

Draught at the brewery
Back colour with large light brown head. Same solid stout as the base variant, more roasty than sweet, the body is on the weaker side for the style, but it makes up a bit by being very smooth. The vanilla is mild, mostly distracting in such roasty beer, reminds me of some cheap vanilla chocolate, probably more suitable for sweeter beers.
Good.

Dark sweet chocolate and some nice vanilla. Jet black brown with a decent light brown head. Sweet dark chocolate, some spice and vanilla. Woody and pleasant.

On tap at Electric Bicycle, pours black with a small brown head. Aroma brings out rich roasted malt, a little cocoa, and a touch of vanilla. Flavour is rich, loaded with vanilla, dark cocoa and deep roasted malt. The vanilla beans are quite prominent, but the roast is what makes this, as with the Bold, rich, and decadent. Excellent.

Taster. Appearance: opaque brown with a beige head. Aroma: vanilla and chocolate, like a cake. Taste: along the same lines with fruity character, roasted malts, tons of chocolate and vanilla. Overall: very good.

I had to double check with the counter staff that yes indeed, they are offering two separate imperial stouts this afternoon. Good muddy brown body nearing black, minimal beige foam. Fascinating aroma that sits between fresh cola soda and heavily sugared Italian espresso. Flavour is more sweet cola bolstered by heavy sweet barley and espresso notes. Great mouthfeel. This brewery has done a 180 in the past few months and I am very impressed. Teething issues resolved? Did they complete their course down at the KPU brewing lab? On this recent visit, their stuff is in another league entirely.
