Troubadour Imperial Stout is a real Imperial Stout, but with a Belgian twist. The beer is almost black and has a solid crème coloured head. It is a powerful beer with strong roasted fragrances. You can taste notes of chocolate, toffee and coffee, followed by a bitter aftertaste.

Bottle from De Hopduvel. Brown colour, beige foam. Medium carbonation. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee and chocolate. Earthy notes. Also some caramel and medium sweetness. Light bitter finish. Well balanced. Good Belgian imperial stout.

Derivative of Troubadour Obscura since 2011, in 75 cl bottles and destined for export - unfortunately. Creamy, stable, light beige head, very dark burgundy colour, near black, allowing light to shine through only at the edges, almost clear. Rich aroma of coffee powder, bitter chocolate, liquorice, candied dates, tonic water, blackcurrant, leather. Rounded, smooth, bit oily mouthfeel, dark and candied fruits, medium carbo, dark and deep chocolatey malts with mouth-filling, coffee-like roasted bitterness and sharpish peppery and citrussy hop bitterness in the end, long and dry. Not the best impy I ever had - still rather ’Belgian’ - but a truly great beer in all respects.

75cl Bottle from ABS Drinks Winksele, bought 2 years ago. Black colour, beige-brown head. Aroma of oxidization, smells old, liquorice, roasted malts, yeast. Flavour is sweet, liquorice, yeast, also tastes old, roasted malt and some coffee in the light-bitter finish. Medium-bodied. Already too old, obviously not a beer to keep.

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ Hogerdijk, Culemborg. Dark brown with a beige head. Aroma of coffee and roasted malts. Bitter taste but with a light sweetness to it. Very smooth mouthfeel, maybe even too smooth for an imperial stout but I think this has to do with the sweetness. Still a good beer though.

Appearance- pitch black, big three finger beige foamy head which persists impressively. Aroma- lots of chocolate, liquorice and blackcurrant, cocoa, milky coffee, a little bit of toffee. Taste- large amount of coffee, plenty of bitterness, cocoa and dark chocolate in the background, hint of dark fruit and blackcurrant. Quite a long finish, and a medium mouthfeel. A good stout.

Dobry imperialny stout. Zapach kawowy, czekoladowy i tostowy. W smaku kawa gozkie espresso, czekolada deserowa i mus czekoladowy. Po przelknieciu goryczka daje we znaki mocno, ale po chwili ustepuje. Przeplata sie to z nieco slodowoscia i czekoladowym wykonczeniem. Ciekawe i troche inne imperialne Stout. Elegancka butelka lakierowana zacheca do konsumpcji

Bottle sample at a tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Thanks Vova. Dark amber-brown with reddish hues and a big beige head. Aroma of roast, caramel, nuts, cookies, yeast and some fruitiness. Flavor with some yeast and roast, some caramel, a bit of cookies, some fruitiness and a bitter finish. Medium-bodied. Not really an Imperial Stout, more like a Quadrupel/Belgian BW with a bit more roast and a bit more hop bitterness.
