Urthel Samaranth is a real authentic tasting beer according to the old Flemish brewing tradition. A dark specialty beer of 11.5% with a subtle soft-sweet taste, rich scents of dried fruit and a refined bitterness with a hint of chocolate in the after-taste. EBC 55.

Bottle from Mitra @ HT. Ruby-reddish colour with an off-white head. Nose is malty, dried fruits, bit of caramel or toffee. Flavour is malty, fruity, caramel, some spicyness. A bit alcoholic. Low carbonation. Finish is slightly sweet and dry. Nice sipper.

Deep red/brown with fast disappearing bubbly white head. Candy sugar, chocolate cake, toast, spices, light tropical fruits. Sweet taste, with very noticable alcohol. Lightly bitter finish. Medium bodied, slightly creamy carbonation. Really nice stuff, but there’s just a bit too much alcohol for me.

Test vom 23.11.2010, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 12,13,12,13,12,13 - 12,70

Bottle shared at ABC Beers tasting. Pours nearly clear amber with a thick tan head. Aroma of caramel, rotten fruit. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter. Unpleasant palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Doesn’t seem right.

Bottle. Copper with an off white head that lingers as a coat. Boozy aroma with raisins, sugary dough, light spices. Sweet with lots of dried fruit and moldering grapes, herbal and spicy notes in the quite bitter finish. Oily rather than creamy, moderate carbonation. Like the balance. Disliked nothing about this really, but it doesn’t offer much in the way of powerful or intriguing flavours to justify its strength.
