Urthel Samaranth is a real authentic tasting beer according to the old Flemish brewing tradition. A dark specialty beer of 11.5% with a subtle soft-sweet taste, rich scents of dried fruit and a refined bitterness with a hint of chocolate in the after-taste. EBC 55.

Single from the SAQ imports. Pours a very slight amber colour with a fizzy off-white head that disappears quickly and leaves no lace. Aromas of nuts, dark fruits, yeast, alcohol and caramel. Brown sugar taste with some raisin notes and light spices. Alcohol well hidden in the mouthfeel, but overall is not my thing.

Dobre mocne piwo. Rubinowe ze srednia i niestety opadajaca pianka. Ale zapach octowo winny, w smaku podobnie dochodza tu jeszcze jakies gryzace w podniebienie przyprawy, kolendra itp. Wspaniale pijalne piwo o szerokim wachlazu smakow i aromatow. Slodkawy finisz, ale nie przeslodzony, alkohol wyczuwalny podczas picia ale nie przeszkadzajacy w degustacji i raczeniu sie tym trunkiem

Wow! This was spectacular with chunks of sediment suspended in the glass. Medium brown with thin beige head. Heavy body. Thick, slick mouthfeel. A sipper, but delicious.

33cl bottle from La Maison Belge, Puerto de la Cruz. Pours slightly hazy amber with a small off-white head. Fruity, malty and hoppy aroma with candi sugar, dried fruits and hints of yeast and alcohol. Sweet, full-bodied and vinous. Fairly soft carbonation, Lovely, desserty beer for dark and cold evenings, but enjoyable anytime. Well balanced, usually this would be way to sweet for me, but it somehow isn’t. Excellent and delicious quad!

En riktigt god belgare. Har väntat ett år på att att öppna denna flaska vilket gjorde den gott. Balanserad och väldigt smakrik och fyllig i sin smak.

33 cl. bottle @ Gollem. Ruby amber with a creamy white head. Smell is malt, touch “other”, spices, touch sweetish, spices,… Taste is sweet, BE profile (although made in the NL as far as I know), spices & BE hop bitter, touch booze, hint rye, raisins and some licorice,… Body is a touch fuller, not too shabby.
