Rook & Vuur is a subtle balance between smoke, chocolate and chili peppers. Although it has a large complexity it is still surprisingly easy to drink. Try combining this beer with a young Gouda cheese and treat yourself. Flavor indication: Chocolate, chili, smoke Translates as Smoke & Fire

Bottle. Black. Bacon and maple nose. Great whiskey notes coming through, with lovely residual burn. Give me smoke and make me smile.

Double 0 donc.

Smoked chili stout by De Molen, thanks to Craftmember for sharing at Arendsnest. Medium thick, yellowish beige, slowly disintegrating but creamy head, hazy, very dark bronze robe, almost black but still translucent under bright light with a burgundy hue. Aroma of moist peat (iodine-like), unsugared black chocolate, burnt wood, black peppercorns and indeed dried green chili peppers, black toast, ashes, bonfire, hard caramel candy. Very subdued in sweetness, dry beef stock umami and underlying sourishness prevailing, prickly but refined carbonation, full and oily mouthfeel. Thick bitter blackened toast body, unsugared chocolate and coffee grounds, drenched in strong iodine-like peatiness (Islay whisky) before a warming, gin-like alcohol effect sets in, with ongoing bonfire-like smokiness and extra, yet well-embedded heat from the chilis. More peaty than 'piquant', but in any case a big, bold, typical Molen stout, classic Molen style I'd say.
