Reviewed from notes.
The appearance had a jet black colored body with a finger’s worth of off-white / maybe closer to a tan colored head, lacing speckles and clings in a messy sort of way.
The smell had Bourbon up front but not as strong as expected (actually thought this would be boozier), but I’m not complaining, some raisins, chocolate, cinnamon, molasses, vanilla, a little bit of fig and some cherries.
The taste had a spicy Bourbon sweet hotness (not sure how else to say it), and the rest of the aromas previously mentioned come out in the flavor, no aftertaste whatsoever, dry finish.
On the palate, she sat a medium to heavy, not exactly sessionable (I wanna sip this the more I taste it), fairly hot.
Overall, holy moley, this is a superb American Porter, I might have to grab another just to let it sit until its suggested drinking date.

Bottle - Some dark coffee, dark fruit, berries, chocolate and barrel notes. Jet black with a thin brown head. Chocolate, bourbon, some sour berries, a long silky coffee with a slight boozey burn. A very complex and great beer, for the price you just can’t beat it.

Bottle courtesy of ericdevin. Roasty chocolate, prune, light woody bourbon, vanilla, and a little tart fruity blackcurrant aroma. Black brown with a small tan head. Dark chocolate, oak, dark fruit, tart blackcurrant, and roasty malt flavor. Medium to full creamy body, soft carbonation. Very nice, and not a bad choice for my 2500th rating.

On tap at Harry’s Hofbrau. Semi-sweet chocolate, slight roast and dark fruit on the nose. Bourbon aroma appears as it warms. Black with a minimal brown head that barely exists - expected due to alcohol. Lucious rich chocolate and deep bourbon layers. Velvety texture with cocoa and scant roast. A moderate low tartness balances nicely in this beer. Wonderful.

Black waxed 22oz bomber pours with a deep dark looking body that supports a light mocha colored head of foam. The aroma offers up thick sweet malts and a wafer thin dash of prune to blueberry to date like dark fruity esters. It then gets into dark roasted malts mixed with caramel, chocolate and sweet molasses covered charred wood. Alrighty. The taste is typical Black Butte with rich goodness starting with thickly malt sweetened dark roasted malts and then chocolate mixed with molasses, a thin layer of dates and brown sugar dredged prunes. To midway bourbon muscles onto the scene with a firm warming feel and a slightly harsh booziness. Just your typical greatness here.

Bottle at Craig’s. Pours jet black with tan head. Aromas are dark chocolate, vanilla. Taste is more dark chocolate, dark sugars, whisky and berries at the end. Sweet. thinner than the 24, quite a sticky texture though. Nice.
