Blonde Ale aged in used Chardonnay barrels from local Sonoma County wineries. It is aged for about 9 to 15 months (depending on the age of the barrel) with lots of brettanomyces, lactobacillus, and pediococcus added to each barrel. Medium bodied with hints of oak and Chardonnay, funky brett characteristics, with a nice, long sour finish.

375ml bottle from a trade, thanks stawn!

Batch 006 - Pours musty yellow with a foamy white head. Aroma of tart fruity notes, some bretta and hints of oak, vanilla, wood. Taste has a lot of notes from barrels, with smooth vanilla and oaky notes, some tart fruits, apples and hints of sourness. Finish is smooth with some slightly tart fruits, apples and vanilla oaky notes. Nice, quite untypical and complex but perhaps slightly unbalanced, as the barrel notes come through a bit too much. Still extremely tasty, though.

375ml Bottle from batch 003 Pours out with just a hint of hazy on a golden background with a fluffy white head that persists forever with massive stickage. The aroma is quite vinous with a sour funky edge. Grapes, lemons, cherries, plums, oranges, tartness, sweaty horses its all in there and it smells great. The first sip pierces my tongue with lactic but smooths out quite quickly. Grapes, candy sugar, brown sugar come up front and provide a great balance against the lemons sour cherries and apricots that come in next. A bit of lactic and funk find its way in there towards the finish but smooth out with a fruity sweetness. Medium body with a spirited level of carbonation and a sweet tart mouthfeel. This is a beautiful beer! Wonderfully complex and incredibly drinkable. I’ve had this in the cellar a few years and have lost track of where I got it, if you sent it to me thank you so much.

17/IX/2012 37.5l bottle @ home - BB: n/a - batch 006 (2012-1052) Thanks to Cory for the bottle!

Clear blond beer, big aery white head, unstable, bit adhesive. Aroma: why yes, definitely a true geuze aroma. Bit dusty, citrus, lemon peel, little fruity, bretta notes, forest fruits. MF: soft carbon, light to medium body. Taste: citric start, lemony, lemon juice, softer bretta taste, very "mellow" tartness, bit spicy. Aftertaste: lemony, hint of white wine, some vinegar, little bitter, dry sour ending.

37,5 cl bottle at Bailey’s Taproom, Portland
Aroma is sour with earthy notes and apples - feels like a lambic. Flavour is sour and tart with earthy notes and floury apples. Also some white wine notes. Good!

Thanks Shawn! Poured into a Duvel Tulip at Cellar Temp. Batch 05x3.

A - Poured a very tiny head that went away quickly. SRM 2 on the scale. Creamy solid white. Lemongrass wheat color, light golden color. Very beautiful. Very light haze.

S - Very tart and sour. Dry champagne scent. Funky and elegant. Earthiness and smell of melons and banana.

T - HUGE explosion of tart. Incredible bitterness. There isn’t a huge flavor assigned from a very belgian yeast and old geuze taste. It’s hard to pinpoint the flavor. Very very balanced.

M - Dry, 60/40 carbonation on a mouth swish. Tasty as all hell. I love it. Light bodied. An entire bottle alone might be too sour.

O - Wow. A+

Tap at RR. It pours clear golden yellow, with a decent white head. The nose is salt, sawdust, vinegar, playdough and tart grapefruit. The taste is sour white grape, grapefruit, vinous, lemon, lime pith, wood, hay and vinegar, with a tart finish. Well hidden alcohol and great balance. Medium body and low/soft carbonation. Not overly complex, but a tasty sour ale nonetheless.

375 ml bottle courtesy of tkrjukoff. Shared at epic tasting on February 11. Pours clear golden with a small creamy white head that leaves no trace while quickly dissipating. Smell is sour and funky with lemon juice, orange zest, some sweet fruits and dusty farmyard. Taste is sour with grapes, lemon juice, orange peal, sweet fruits, hay, leather and wood. Mouthfeel is sour, slightly watery and very balanced. Finish is tart with citrus fruits and farmyard hints.Re-rate: Batch 003 courtesy of Marsiblursi. Bright orange, no head. Very nice and sour gooseberry / unripe berry / barnyard aroma. Nice sour and slightly sweet taste with green grapes, wood, peaches, currants, gooseberries and hints of oxidation. Very nice. Feel my first rating of this was quite unfair.

Pours a very light yellow with a good-sized head that quickly dissipates. Aroma is rather muted--some fruitiness, but not very apparent. Flavor is sour and fruity. Some citrus. Very wine-like. These sour/wild ales are starting to grow on me.

Draught at Russian River Brewery. Honey lemon, funky nose, with vanilla and yogurt; very lactic. Clear gold with nice lace, sparkling. Quite sour—with lemon meringue, yogurt, horse blanket. Clean and tasty, though a bit sweeter than I prefer. Oily, silky palate. Great.
