Trappist ale brewed with spices. We brewed a beer that we describe as 'slightly unruly'--our Trappist 8 is a beer you must take time to understand. Chestnut-colored and bottle-conditioned, with aroma of herbs and spices; initially floral and slightly sweet; character develops from light caramel to a lovely, dry, hoppy bitterness as the flavor opens. Brewed within the walls of Zundert Trappist Monastery by monks.

Bottle from Damián Holland brewery no.9 This feels quite light for trippel, like it's all okay and full bodied while taking a sip but everything rather quickly wears off.

Bottle from the Offie, Leicester. Honey brown, very cloudy with a creamy beige head. Spicy aroma with notes of dates, ground coriander, agave syrup. Tastes sweet at first, with sugary yeast and more coriander; there's a sharp bitter hop on the finish. More chewy stone fruit in the long aftertaste. Body is a bit thin but it's lifted by the gentle carbonation. Pretty good stuff.

33 cl bottle. Pours bright fox-red with a creamy yellowish head, very nice, some light sediment gives a bit of haze. Aroma is malty, lots of red apple, light fruity notes of plum, shades of brown sugar and belgian yeast, some spice maybe cinnamon and earth. Medium body, sharp taste, a bit sugary and moderately bitter, sustained carbonation, dry finish with light solvent notes still well drinkable. Nice trappist.

Aroma: Sweet, spicy.
Appearance: Clear dark golden-amber. Long lasting off-white head.
Taste: Medium sweet, spicy, medium bitter, alcohol, light dried fruits, metalic.
Palate: Medium body. Bitter finish.
Overall: Bitter belgian. Not so good for trappist.

330ml bottle. Pours a hazy orange-red with a large, frothy, long lasting, ecru head that leaves curtains of lace. Sweet aroma of bready malt, caramel, yeast, floral, honey, dried fruit and nutmeg. Sweet flavour of grainy pale malt, caramel, floral, honey, yeast, orange peel, apricot, dried fruit, black pepper and nutmeg with a dry, mildly bitter hop finish. Medium body with an oily finish and soft to average carbonation. More of a Dubbel than a Tripel, but still tasty.

Thuis uit een flesje. Mooie helder donkere amber kleur, mooi beige schuim. Heerlijke licht zoete smaak. Prima.

Bottle. Copper/orange with a huge white head. Aroma is floral, earthy, fruity and subtly boozy. Honey and oranges. Taste is caramel, oranges, apricots and old apples. Some Spice and a little bit of yeast. Bitter and very dry finish. Medium carbonation. It's well balanced and alright for sure but far from being my favourite Tripel.
