Trappist ale brewed with spices. We brewed a beer that we describe as 'slightly unruly'--our Trappist 8 is a beer you must take time to understand. Chestnut-colored and bottle-conditioned, with aroma of herbs and spices; initially floral and slightly sweet; character develops from light caramel to a lovely, dry, hoppy bitterness as the flavor opens. Brewed within the walls of Zundert Trappist Monastery by monks.

Amber color. Very malty, estry nose, apricot and bready nose. Full body, dry, but not with great depth, slightly phenolic. Dry finish. Meh. Nose is good but a bit lame after that

Feb. ’16. A 0.33 l bottle that poured a clear golden body with a huge head atop. Weak, sweetish malt aroma, sugar, coriander, some yeast and elderflower. Flavor was lightly sweet, fruity, light caramel somewhere. Thin, watery otherwise, quite weird. Finish was lightly bitter and only lightly warming, but all very short. Unimpressive Belgian ale, how could this get a trappist license?. Alcohol was very well hidden, true, but they hid everything else, too. One of the worst tripels tasted, the style I like. Oh, and 92 percentiles? RB community, you totally lost your grading compass...

Amber-copper color, with a small head, disappearing. Aroma is spicy, malts, a bit too bland than expected. Taste is malty, some orange peel notes, sweetish at first, some bitterness in the end. Oily texture. Good, but not at the level of the belgian trappists.

Dobre piwo do sera dlugodojrzewajacego.

Flasche (33 cl) vom Bierzwerg.

A small bottle bought in L’Abbaye des Saveurs, Lille. Pours a slightly hazy with a weak white head. Aroma is belgian yeasts, spicies, flowery, typical for this style of beer. Taste is the same, but with some hoppy bitterness. Same bitterness aftertaste.
