Trappist ale brewed with spices. We brewed a beer that we describe as 'slightly unruly'--our Trappist 8 is a beer you must take time to understand. Chestnut-colored and bottle-conditioned, with aroma of herbs and spices; initially floral and slightly sweet; character develops from light caramel to a lovely, dry, hoppy bitterness as the flavor opens. Brewed within the walls of Zundert Trappist Monastery by monks.

I don't love this beer as much as others here. It is a bit over-bitter to the point where it loses balance. Perhaps even a bitoxidized, but still 2.5 years before best before date. online belgian beer factory

A single 33 cl bottle located at THE bottle shop in Amsterdam, I pop the lid and pour into the cruise ship’s provided glass. Moderately dark brown with a heroic top of off-white, very small bubbles, nice lacing. I take a smell, spicy it appears, dark fruit and grain. A drink gives nutmeg, cloves, plum and baked bread. It tastes more of a Christmas special brew than a tripel. Nice in its own place, not out of the ordinary.

Bottle from Eltham Wines, Eltham. Copper coloured pour with an off white head. Aromas of apple pie, gooseberry, pear drops, banana. Flavours of banana, gooseberry, caramel, more pear drops. Sweet, malty finish. Nice.

33cl bottle from Abeervinum, Rimini, Italy. Pours deep amber, beautiful, with fine white foam. Aroma is yeasty, fruity of plum. Body is just fairly dense, with good carbonation. Taste is intensely bitter, for a Belgian-style beer. Some sweetness too, in the beginning. Finish is pretty long and bitter.

Florals and some citrus. Light coriander. Pours dark amber with great head and lacing. A little booze in finish that has some tang and sweetness. OK but not as good as the better trappists. Bottle on the train to BWI.

330mL bottle, pours a rich amber orange with a monstrous off-white head. Nose brings out a nice Belgian yeast character upfront, followed by candied sugar, some bubblegum, and a touch of champagne-like effervescence. Flavour comes out pretty much the same, with champagne-like effervescence and Belgian yeast esters upfront, followed by sweet bubblegum and candied sugar. A little on the sweet side, but the yeast expression is expertly harnessed. Very nice tripel.
