Imaginary Path is a single unblended wine barrel aged beer with Nelson Sauvin hop terpenes.
Originally brewed in February 2018 and fermented with a mixed culture of lactobacillus, pediococcus, saccharomyces, and brettanomyces from @bootlegbiology. The beer has bright acidic notes of citrus and stonefruit backed up by beautiful wood character.
I chose this beer as a base for a hop-forward beer about 8 months into fermentation, but I couldn't decide what the best way was to get the aroma and flavour I was looking for. I got in touch with @mainiacalyeastlabs in Maine after doing some reading and finding out that they make their own terpene blends. I settled on Nelson Sauvin terpenes for this beer - they are quite floral and grassy with a bit of pepper-y spice. This potent addition brought the punchy hop aroma to this beer while only minimally impacting the flavour profile and leaving all the wonderful base beer notes.
Imaginary Path contains 5% alcohol by volume. It was released 6/02/19 and sold entirely through the Luppolo tasting room.

Biale wino, kapka octu, i do tego aromat i smak ktory sie kojarzy z drewnem z zywica na sloncu. Nieco cierpkie, bardzo wytrawne, niezbyt intensywne. Posmaki te drewniane nie sa wcale za fajne, ale calosc niewatpliwie bardzo ciekawa. I bardzo smaczna tez.

Flaska från Muted Horn. Lätt spökdisig, näst intill klar blekguldig med vit försvinnande krona. Ren, klar och fräsch med toner av äpple, citron, citruszest, fat, vitt vin, ek, vita plommon och aprikoser, terpener, tallbarr, gröna druvor. Någorlunda mjuk i kroppen även om den är åtstramad och med en torr avslutning. Balanserad syra. Kryddighet i både doft och smak från terpener och fat. Kryddig eftersmak.

Cloudy blond colour. Nice and surprising aroma, delicate incense. Gently sour, lemony, touch of citrus zest, light incense, light vinous character.

Hazy pale, nice menthol, minty, spicy, ginger honey...kind of fun. Vinous, the terps are an absolute hoot. Tasting one of my bottles and it’s great. I cannot wait for more terpene beers.

On tap at Luppolo, pours a cloudy yellow with a small white head. Aroma is quite floral and soapy, with gentle white wine notes, earthy notes, and a touch of wood. Flavour is very strange, with a herbal, soapy character upfront that ends up dominating, followed by gentle white wine, gentle tartness, and a little wild character. That soapy, herbal character isn't so pleasing to my palate, but I can appreciate the intent. Not bad.

Taster shared with Alex. Appearance: hazy golden with a weak white head. Aroma: nice barrel and fruity character. Taste: similar with grape and some creamy notes. Overall: as usual a bit too acidic for my taste, but it's good.
