Tranquility is a blend of wine barrel aged beers conditioned on locally grown whole blueberries. It is packaged still (without carbonation) in icewine bottles.
The blend is comprised of three wine barrels with an average age of 13 months. These were neutral wine barrels so there is only a small amount of oak and red wine contribution
Similar to my other fruited blends, it is an ode to my love of locally grown whole fruit. These blueberries happened to be a wild-ish cultivar, which means they are smaller in size and have a higher ratio of skin to juice. The extended contact (two months) on the whole berries has yielded a wonderfully tannic beer with incredible texture and mouthfeel. The decision not to carbonate the beer came after realizing the parallels between this beer and a juicy red wine. I've always really enjoyed the way my fruited sour beers taste directly from the barrel and think it will be neat for you guys to experience it in this way, without carbonation.
This blend is bottle conditioned and contains 6% alcohol by volume. It was released 6/2/19 and was entirely sold out of the tasting room at Luppolo, with the exception of a few bottles to select beer bars.

Corked bottle at Luppolo, Vancouver
Dark ruby/purple colour. Deep berry aroma. Dry mouthfeel, the lack of carbonation suits well, the acidity is less aggressive; strong berry flavour, a bit yeasty and cheesy in the finish.
Very good.

Purple colour, and a rich almost like a fruit port aroma. So I like the blueberry, and the fact that it reminds me of the port from Elephant Island is kind of cool.

375mL bottle, pours a beautiful dark pinkish purple with a tiny pink bubbly head. Aroma is like dry blueberry wine, with lots of musty blueberry wine, dusty red grape skins, and a little wood. Flavour is exquisite, with lots of intense dry blueberries upfront, followed by some vinous notes, and wood. Lots of dry blueberries that are beautifully expressed. Lovely.

Nice soft blueberry notes. Clearish red with no head. Light soured blueberry, nice fruity finish, quite dry.

375ml bottle shared with Alex and Matt (& Josh). Appearance: nice purple without head. Aroma: nice blueberries aroma with some barrel notes. Taste: pretty similar, quite tart, reminded me about Anchorage The Experiment. Overall: my favorite Temporal beer so far.
