“a stout of great contention”
We are not the harbingers of truth as some may suggest but it may indeed be argued that our brewing philosophy is tantamount to a dessert with a bellicose past. How, you may ask, would a brewery determine a likeness to hard-coated custard? Our response is simple; it’s all in the power of history, and of course, the extra finesse needed to top off a contentious treat with definition.

Draft at blind tiger. At first I thought it smelled like vanilla then I realized it was like burnt butterscotch. Alcohol was not well camouflaged and it burned on the way down. Hard to drink really.

Tap. Loved this beer. Yes, it is sweet but it is so tasty. Dark brown color. Aroma is vanilla, some coffee.

650ml bottle from the lcbo. The aroma is quite incredible. A potent mix of werthers caramels, butterscotch pudding and a sticky cloying burnt brown sugar caramel. The flavor is more is tge sticky sweet caramel, and butterscotch with some intense dry bitterness in the finish. There really isn’t any resemblance of anyroasted malt, the only clue that there is some hops is the intense bitterness in the end. This isn’t bad but good god it’s sweet and a 650ml bomber is way too much for one person .

12 oz. bottle, 10.0% ABV, Best by: 10/10/24
AROMA: I'm first hit with strong scents of vanilla, custard, toffee, and caramel. After that I get just a hint of booze. The aroma levels are strong and stay with the beer all the way to the end.
APPEARANCE: Pours an opaque black with a thin, dark-tan head that dissipates at a moderate pace. Surprisingly, for such a thin head, it has pretty darn good lacing.
TASTE: Sugary sweet with lots of vanilla and custard flavor. I don't really get any hint of booze until the finish. Which is a bit dangerous given its high 10% ABV level.
MOUTHFEEL: Full-bodied with a smooth texture and above-average carbonation. Overall, a really nice mouthfeel.
OVERALL: The high sweetness level drowns out almost all of the "beer" flavor of the base Stout. Which is a shame, because I think the flavor profile would greatly benefit from the diversity of the flavors from your typical Stout. While the flavors and aromas are quite delectable at first, I did find that after about 1/2 a beer my taste buds could no longer stand being hammered by the over-the-top sweetness. Which made the last 1/2 of the beer a bit of a "chore" to finish.

almost black colour, medium sized creamy beige head, which lasts forever; aroma of creme brulée, vanilla, toffee, pecan nut and some cocoa; taste is the same with some alcoholic spiciness; great one

One of the worst beers by one of the worst breweries. Do you have no sense of taste? You will LOVE it as this beer bludgeons your dull taste buds to death with sugar and alcohol. Southern Tier: helping people that have no sense of taste since 2004!
