Poured from the tap. Dark brown with beige head. Nutty roast with a bit of caramel. While I’m not a fan of the style, I appreciate that this is decently done.

Medium brown, thin and crackery...nope, did not nail it. Was never going to be easy for a non-lager brewer to do this justice.

On tap at Swans, pours a dark mahogany with a small beige head. Aroma brings out toasted caramel upfront, with bready malt and a bit of nuttiness. Flavour is powerful, with big caramely malt notes upfront, attenuated by dry bready malt and a bit of red fruitiness. Wonderfully constructed, with everything cohesively integrated. Excellent.

Toasty notes and toffee. Deep brown with a small white head. Nutty, dark roast and a bit of bitterness.

On tap at the brewpub. Smells of soft sweet barley, has good beige foam and a dark brown-black body. Flavour is mellow sweet barley with very soft dark chocolate hints. Mouthfeel is full enough. This is okay but timid, something needs to come forward.
