Medium brown, bright. Not much head. Doesn’t look Baltic and there’s not enough alcohol anyway. Aroma comes across as thin and toasty, neither or which have anything to do with Baltic porter. Medium body but thick, gloppy, chocolate syrup. Ok so setting aside the fact that this beer has nothing in common with the Baltic porter style, it’s not all that accomplished as a porter. So I’m not into it.

On tap at Sooke, pours a hazy dark mahogany with a small beige head. Aroma brings out light vanilla, candied red fruits, and toasted caramel. Flavour is quite chocolatey, with lots of cocoa upfront, some fruitiness, little else. Very cocoa-y. Pleasant cocoa bomb.

Dark roast and some chocolate. Deep amber brown with a small beige head. Dark chocolate, toasted cocoa and a long chocolate. One note, but solid.

Growler fill flown back to the mainland, slowly fermented in a Surrey fridge for a week to adhere to maximal flavour. Or whatever. This pours with a dark ruby body, clear, and some minimal head. The smell is of sweet bread, biscuit, vague coffee notes. The flavour is more murky biscuit with coffee, soft sweet syrup, mellow dark chocolate. Medium finish. Seems awkward and unrefined, by no means a proper baltic porter. Alcohol is well hidden at least.
