Always seems a little weird when 3F put out a straightforward, no-frills take on a style. Calumet is a very basic American kölsch, grainy and light, with a slight pale malt sweetness and yeast and almost imperceptible bitterness on the finish. By far the most boring 3F beer I’ve tried.

Aromas are bread, pears, melon, malt and floral. Flavors are similar to nose, bittersweet and floral comes out a touch more. Decent body and carbonation with a bittersweet finish. Not bad. 12 can variety pak.

Clear golden coloured body with a very large, six centimetre tall off-white head that shows trillions of bubbles rising from the bottom - nice! Aroma of yeast, light malt, rice, corn, a hint of resinous hops, some lemons and a bit of bread. Light-bodied; Very mild malt notes with some rice and grain and a very subdued citrus flavour with the faintest amount of hops noticeable. Aftertaste is almost as bland, but some light yeast comes through along with the malt - that’s it, absolutely no complexity. Overall, an average beer at best - and at worst, a subpar beer with not much flavour and one that is WAY overpriced. People should get over some reputation ratings on this one, it simply isn’t a great beer and definitely not worthy of any high marks, period. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from King Richard’s Wine & Spirits in Michigan City, Indiana on 09-September-2015 for US$9,99 sampled at home in Washington on 12-June-2016.

This beer pours a clear pale golden color with a medium white head that burns away steadily. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrus, hops and malt. Light body with flavors of sweet citrus, grainy malt and earthy hops. The finish is fruity with a mild hops aftertaste. Decent overall.

Draft - Light sweet citrus. Clear pale gold with a rich white frothy head. Light sweet citrus and some light sweet grains. Sweet and refreshing, lots do citrus and unlike any in this style. Still tasty though.

22 oz bottle poured into a weisse glass. Bottled 6/6/14. Clear straw yellow with three fingers of off-white head. Aromas of citrus, wheat. Tastes of citrus, sweet malt, wheat, yeast. Medium-light body with a dry finish. Medium carbonation. Pretty nice for the style.

Bottle as shown. Pours a clear yellow with small off white head that diminishes quickly to nothing. The aroma is strong wheat, honey, and hay. Thin mouthfeel with sweet wheat, grass, honey, and light dry finish, decent.

Bottle @ home, courtesy of TheAlum. Adam knows my tastes well! Thanks! Pours a hazy yellow appearance with a lasting white head. Straw, pale grainy, herbal, lightly floral hoppy aroma. Fairly dry grainy malty, herbal, light lemon, grassy flavor. Crisp and dry. One of the best (if not the best) American renditions of a Kölsch that I’ve ever had. Like.
