Bottle from Tesco.
Appearance - Black with ruby edges, off-white head, fair lacing, mostly lasting head.
Aroma - Roasted malts, chocolate, dark biscuit, some mild coffee.
Taste - Roast malt, milk and dark chocolate, some bitter hops, hint of earth, sweet dark malts.
Palate - Medium body, bit creamy but bit over-carbonated.
Overall - Very good stout, plenty of flavour for 4.5%. Good chocolate roast malt aroma but the carbonation needs to be softer.

Keg at Greenwich Union. Pitch black with a low, fine head. Aroma of dark chocolate, wood, milk coffee. Dry, nicely balanced sweetness in the flavor, creamy, with coffee, burnt wood, dark chocolate. Rather light. High drinkability, though not all that memorable.

Pours dark brown with a creamy tan head. Aromas of chocolate and smoke. Flavor is also smoke and chocolate. Not a trace of bitter. But it’s not really very sweet. Just smoky dark malt and chocolate. Interesting.

Tap at the Evening Star, Brighton. Pours a dark, red-brown with a light tan head. Light roast on the nose, some dark sugar. Flavor is lightly sweet with some coffee bean, tar, bit of hardness to the malts. Medium bodied with fairly lively carbonation. Finishes medium sweet with some baking cocoa and faint smoke. A little bland on the whole. Kind of reminded me of a brown ale, which may or may not be a good thing. Alright.
