Straffe Hendrik Quadrupel, launched in 2010, is an intense beer, dark in colour and full in taste.
The aroma is elegant, spicy and slightly roasted.
The sophisticated blend of special kinds of malt give the beer a complex character, combining a delicate dryness with hints of cariander, dark fruits, anise and roasted chestnuts. The palate finishes in a syrupy taste. The refermentation in the bottle creates a living beer that will evolve over the years.
EBC 100, 22° plato.

Appearance- dark brown/mahogany, opaque, a two-finger pillowy beige head which hangs around. Aroma- cherry, brown bread, raisin, hint of banana, port wine, malty, fruitcake. Taste- lots of dark fruit- cherry, raisin, plum, red wine, hints of marzipan and vanilla, fruitcake, banana bread, brown bread, boozy fruit. Some chocolate and coffee as it warms. Mouthfeel is fluffy and quite full. Very nice.

On tap at Prefunk. Pours a very dark brown with medium beige head leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is yeast, raisin, leather, fig, wood. Medium body, yeast, spice, dark fruit, boozy finish, very good.

Bottled at Craft Room. Brown, clear, tinged with amber, light off whitr head. Full aroma, red apple esters, caramel, toffee, malt, soft, nice! Soft malty apple ester taste, toffee, perfumy, good maltiness but flavor-wise, not heavy at all. Good strong but soft carbonation. Wow.

Rerate, bottle. Hazy dark brown with a lasting, foamy, beige head. Aroma of date, prune, liquorice, toffee, milk chocolate, pear, syrup, toast. Taste has (heavy) sweet candied fruits, syrup, some chocolate, sweet-spicy liquorice root & vague toast. Herbal hoppy finish, spicy, candied fruits & syrup lingering, toast, some warming brandy-like alcohol, remaining relatively well hidden. Full body, syrupy texture, average carbonation. Clean, flawless Quad with nice toasty notes, Scotch-like almost.

0.33l bottle. Very dark ruby body with an enormous light brown head. Very complex brew. It has an intense tangerine character that I didn’t expect at all supported by notes of raisins, orange zest, pepper, caramel and floral hops. Sweet from the dark malts and heavy, but because of the fruity character it’s fresh too. It definitely deserves to be among the top 50 quads.

Bottled 330ml. -from Pivoteka Zagreb. Brownish coloured, medium sized creamy beige head, dried fruits and spices in the nose. Sweet malty, caramel, dried fruits and spices with notes of alcohol. Again spices in the finish. Very good brew but something is missing to be a great one.

Fles gedeeld door LiekevdV. Het is een erg donkere Quadrupel. Het heeft een gebrande smaak met een licht fruitige afdronk.
