Straffe Hendrik Quadrupel, launched in 2010, is an intense beer, dark in colour and full in taste.
The aroma is elegant, spicy and slightly roasted.
The sophisticated blend of special kinds of malt give the beer a complex character, combining a delicate dryness with hints of cariander, dark fruits, anise and roasted chestnuts. The palate finishes in a syrupy taste. The refermentation in the bottle creates a living beer that will evolve over the years.

One of the handful of much-desired beers I was able to return with from Amsterdam, Straffe Hendrik Quad was high on the list. Classy label. Lifting off the cap on the 330 ml bottle and tilting into my Trappistes Rochefort glass I note a rich, dark body. The head is a slender beige small-bubbled foam steadily refilled by some active carbonation. The scent is cherry, hard candy and a bit of bread. A sip delivers malt, caramel, dark plum and toasted bread. Quite good, just not the best quadrupel I have tasted.

Botella 33 cl en supermercado Brugge 11..09.. 2017. (r951). Lote 17. 01. Fdcpref 06..05..2020. Color oscuro marrón caoba con espuma beige persistente. Sabores maltosos tostados suaves caramelos, ligeras mieles y tostados, ligeros especiados. Cuerpo ligero a medio algo espumoso y cierta densidad. Buena sensación alcohólica desde el principio con 11 vol dejando suave amargo final. Buena, para repetir sin duda.

Bottle from saveur-biere.com. Pours dark brown. Nose is chocolate, leather, orange, some alcohol. Palate is sweet orange, chocolate, toffee finish. I really like this, on the other hand, this is the sixth Quadrupel/Belgian strong Ale I am rating in a row... So I might not be 100% objective.

750 from Legacy. Dark brown, thin head. On the nose, rich fruits, figs, robust whole grain bread. Sweet palate with similar fruit depth, nice alcoholic warmth. Great fruity notes.

Bottle. Dark color big bubbly Brown head fizzy, perfumed. Rich malt aroma with plum and fruit, cherry and liquor with grassy hops. Taste ia complex sugary with a solmooh bitter balanced. Alcoholic and vinous, not easy, slow sipper.

Appearance- dark brown/mahogany, opaque, a two-finger pillowy beige head which hangs around. Aroma- cherry, brown bread, raisin, hint of banana, port wine, malty, fruitcake. Taste- lots of dark fruit- cherry, raisin, plum, red wine, hints of marzipan and vanilla, fruitcake, banana bread, brown bread, boozy fruit. Some chocolate and coffee as it warms. Mouthfeel is fluffy and quite full. Very nice.

On tap at Prefunk. Pours a very dark brown with medium beige head leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is yeast, raisin, leather, fig, wood. Medium body, yeast, spice, dark fruit, boozy finish, very good.

Bottled at Craft Room. Brown, clear, tinged with amber, light off whitr head. Full aroma, red apple esters, caramel, toffee, malt, soft, nice! Soft malty apple ester taste, toffee, perfumy, good maltiness but flavor-wise, not heavy at all. Good strong but soft carbonation. Wow.
