Straffe Hendrik Quadrupel, launched in 2010, is an intense beer, dark in colour and full in taste.
The aroma is elegant, spicy and slightly roasted.
The sophisticated blend of special kinds of malt give the beer a complex character, combining a delicate dryness with hints of cariander, dark fruits, anise and roasted chestnuts. The palate finishes in a syrupy taste. The refermentation in the bottle creates a living beer that will evolve over the years.

33cl bottle. Pours dark brown, with fine light brown foam. Aroma is heavy malty, molasses, some nutty. Body is smooth, but average, with moderate soft carbonation. Taste is intensely sweet, with a fairly long warm final.

Direkt in der Brauerei aus der Flasche. Kommt sehr kalt, also erstmal warten und anwärmen, sonst schmeckt das sehr medizinisch. Einige Momente später Schokoaromen in der Nase. Im Trunk immernoch recht alkoholisch, Jägermeister, Lakritz, hinten Holzfass, Süßholz. Für ein Quadruple leider etwas zu brutal - da geht mir zu sehr die Apotheke durch.

Bottle from HoTM. It pours very dark ruby brown wit ha thick, sturdy light tan head. The aroma is rich and chewy, bitter - sweet, toasty, roasted malt, loads of dark and dried fruits, plum, prune, date, raisin, sultana, fig, fruit cake, Eccles cake, spice, cacao and some cakey vibes. The taste is initially dry, toothy, sticky, bitter - sweet, charred, toasty, roasted malt, warming spice, earth, dried fruits, so much dark / dried fruits, plum pudding, figgy pudding, currants, cranberry, Christmas cake, cacao, warming boozy action and light tannin with a toasty and fruity finale. Fulsome body and moderate+ foamy carbonation. Really rather flavourful and robust. Good quality for the price also.

From a 750ml bottle on 31/12/2020. Pours a deep amber with a huge foamy head which disappears quickly. The nose features, caramel, treacle and dark fruit. Tastes very sweet, with caramel, toffee, raisins, dates, plums and prunes, with a mild but slightly sharp bitterness. The mouthfeel is syrupy, the carbonation moderate. Not super complex but very enjoyable.

Mörkt rödbrun med tätt skum. Rund, fyllig och värmande smak av kola, farin, lakrits och svarta vinbär. Lite spritkärv finish. God.
