An 9% ABV beer in which the fermented sugars were all obtained from malt (20 degrees Plato).
A generous dose of hops and a long maturation time makes this beer best of the best.
This beer is bottle conditioned and will go through taste evolution during many years.
Selected by the brewer from his best peated whisky casks. Matured for a quarter of a year.
Winner of the Zythos Beer Festival (ZBF) consumer prize 2011.

Bottle. Creamy off-white good mostly lasting head. Slightly exploding! Dark brown colour. Heavy malty and moderate hoppy aroma. Some peated notes. Heavy bitter peated flavor with week fruity notes. Long moderate bitter finish. Creamy palate.

Bottle at Chriso - 25/09/12 thanks to Bruce/Deeblo. Bottle #3340 @10%ABV. Murky mid brown canal water in appearance. Smoke and peat on the nose, toffee, a little tarte cherry. Dark fruits, peaty smokey and sour in the taste. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Decent stuff - last beer of the tasting note probably don’t do it justice!

Bottle thanks to Bruce at ChrisO. It pours deep cloudy amber-brown, with a thin light beige head. The nose is sweet dark fruit, cherry, blueberry, blackberry, yoghurt, malt backbone and oak. The taste is blackberry, over-ripe blueberry, roasted malt, sweet caramel, oak and some light whiskey notes (but not as much as expected), with a dry, lightly spicy finish. Full body, moderate carbonation and somewhat creamy mouth-feel. Hides the alcohol well. Not bad.

shared with 77 ships realy soft, good drinkable ale. sweet, drinks very wattery but tastes quite much i must say ! very enjoyable, especialy ( again) how soft it drinks. me likey ! the taste is also quite good ( it deserves itd good name ) but not my favourite

Pizzeria Paradiso, Alexandria tap: I believe that this is the version that I had, judging by the taste. In any case, it pours a dark brownish color with a a brownish head. Aroma is Whiskey, peat smoke, subdued fruitiness. Taste is much the same. The whiskey and peat (so I guess Single Malt) is not too powerful, but it is the main thing going on in this beer. The malty and fruity aspects are definitely more in the background. However, this is still interesting and drinkable.

Sample at the Pints For Pelotonia charity tasting on 07/21/12: Pours a dark brown color with a medium beige head that recedes steadily. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of smoky malt, fruit and hops. Medium body with flavors of peaty malt, smoke, hops and ripe fruit. The finish is slightly sour with a lingering peat aftertaste. Fairly one-note but decent overall.

Bottle from L’Abbaye des Saveurs, Lille, n.14775, bottled Apr 2011
Very dark color, almost black, with medium sized brownish head. Aroma of medicine, hint of smoke, orange peel. Good body strength, with a reasonably round mouthfeel; strong chocolate flavor, with some roasted malt, caramel; compared to the black wrapped "Oak Aged Blended", the peat (which is mild) masks the liquorice; there is some residual sweetness, to soften the beer.
Well brewed, and more interesting than its sister.

Hazy brown/red body. Off-white/lightly brown fizzy head. Malty arome with hints of wood, peat, ...: soft and well balanced. Subtle and complex heavily bitter, lightly sweet flavour.

On tap at Zythos, Brabanthal, Leuven, Belgium Saturday 28th April 2012 Strange aroma, I expected to get just elastoplast and iodine but instead of the usual peated whisky elements I also get a bit dose of piss, real goodly splash of urine, which is really quite interesting and strangely with the other aromas it isn’t to unsettling. Taste is also all things peaty, but soft in mouth with some dark honey, malts and a light smokiness showing as well. A7 A3 T7 P4 Ov15 3.6

Bottle sample at a tasting at Dagan’s place. Thanks Tomer G. Very dark brown with a beige head. Aroma of malt, peated whiskey, woody hints and alcohol. Sweet flavor with some smokiness, malt, whiskey, a bit of chocolate and alcohol. Medium to full-bodied. OK.
