Bottle. Pours dark brown with tan brown head. Nose and taste is peat, barbecued pork, smoked oak, whiskey, dark caramel, dark chocolate and peated malt. Flavors meld well and are strong but not overpowering. There is a nice subtle quality to the beer. Solid beer. Medium body.

Dark brown beer, good tan head. lactose nose with some medicinal tinged whisky. Softish palate, a little dry. Semi sweet orange cream supports mellow smoked whisky. Creamy and semi dry finish. The two disparate elements join up quite well in to a quaffable beer. Much better than the lain whisky version!

Bottle at a Chriso tasting, London - big thanks to Bruce. Pours a lightly hazy red-brown with a moderate, frothy cream head. Dry fruits and leather on the nose. Big sweet flavor with semi-dark fruits, light leathery fruits, brown sugar, some berries. Full bodied with average, creamy carbonation. Fairly warming to finish, with brown sugar, dried berries, toasty malts. Great balance, depthy character.
