Dew Point is our riff on the modern american IPA. We co-ferment this beer with our saison culture and one of our favourite strains of brettanomyces. This brett strain is known for its tropical fruit-forward flavours and is bursting with “new world” stone fruit, mango, and citrus hop flavours. We think Dew Point is a great example of using a very traditional method (mixed fermentation, bottle conditioning) to produce a distinctly modern beer through hop and yeast selection.
The name refers to the temperature at which the air becomes saturated with water and dew can form as condensation on surfaces as it falls out of solution. Even in December, Kelowna’s mild winters mean that dew is still something that can occasionally greet us when we go outside. We think the Dew Point name perfectly evokes the haze and juiciness of this beer and conjures up images of nature and enjoying beer with friends.
Dew Point has a hop charge far exceeding our other two launch beers - as you would expect from anything labelled IPA! We recommend you enjoy it fresh to take full advantage of those wonderful flavours and aromas. That being said, the brettanomyces in the beer should help preserve those hops longer than an IPA without brett. If you aren’t a hop head and want a less hop-forward experience, you can always choose to cellar this beer which would allow the brettanomyces a chance to really shine!

Bottle at Matt's
Murky blond colour. Weird aroma, glue and fruit. Flavor follows suit, it's yeasty, it's glue-y, it's chalk-y, a bit spicy, some bitter citrus peel.
A mess.

Cloudy, pale. Thick head. On the nose, there's a touch of brett, a nice gooseberry/lychee hop note, soft pale malts, and some phenols. Fairly bitter, with a lot of those same pale fruits, but with a pithy grapefruit note as well. The brett is again somewhat minimal - maybe could stand a bit more aging before release. The phenols drop right off. I like this, even if it could be better.

500mL bottle, pours a cloudy golden yellow with a medium white head. Aroma brings out bright citrus hops upfront, with plenty of barnyard funk and earthy farmhouse notes. Flavour is along the same lines, with bright citrus hops, barnyard funk, intense bitterness, and farmhouse notes. Bitter and funky, with everything pretty balanced. A tad harsh, but this works well.
