Our Summer Saison is a delicious golden farmhouse ale, brewed with orange peel, ginger, and grains of paradise. A very refreshing, Belgian-inspired summer ale.

22 oz. bottle, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma of sweet malt, wheat and yeast - very light. Flavour of yeast, wheat and citrus, with a medium dryness - not terribly exciting, but very refreshing and quaffable. Solid saison.

Pour is a hazy yellow with a small white head. Aroma is faint. Some citrus and wheat malt. Flavor is a lot better. Big citrus bite with some chalky malts and a decent spice toward the end. More like a spicy wit than a saison but it does have a nice flavor especially after the swallow.

Aroma is refreshing with citrus and wheat. Flavour has citrus and some wheat. Dry finish and thin palate. No jyväjemmari aroma. Refreshing, but quite boring. A light wit, not very saison. And where are the spices?

Pours light yellow with a small white head. Aroma of fruits, spices and malts. Taste is quite fruity and spicy with some wheaty malts. Finish is slightly spicy and fruity. Okay.

Bomber. Pale golden body. Frothy, off-white head, slowly diminishing. Spicy aroma of clove, coriander, toasted grain, pepper, grapefruit skin, citrus, mustiness. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Nice dry finish. Medium body, watery turning velvety texture. The spice is nicely integrated and understated unlike so many other "saisons." The initial tastes of coriander, mustiness and citrus get washed away by the pepper and bitterness. Nothing is dominant or overpowering, just as a well-made saison should be. Incredible, the flavors that are coaxed out of this beer, especially for 4.2% abv.

Christmas tasting at the Kernel. Think this one was Leighton - cheers mate! Hazy gold beer. Good sized off white head. Light sourness on the nose. Pleasantly lemony limey with mild spice and herbs. Dry finish. Nice saison, very drinkable.

Pours gold into tulip. Bright white head with good retention recedes leaving spider lacing to coat surface. Soapy lemon aromas. Dry with lemon and caramel upfront turning to lemon joy in the lasting finish.

Bottle at The Kernel Christmas Tasting. Pours a lightly foggy, yellow-gold with a large, frothy white head. Has a nice and dusty aroma, some sweet bread, light spice. Fairly sweet flavor, creamy, light grass, bread, faint lemon peel. Light bodied with lively carbonation. Sweet, lightly bitter finish, some hay, dough. Very good. Could be just a hint crisper.

22 oz bottle purchased at Metcalf Discount on 91st Street, Overland Park, Kansas. Pour is light haze yellow golden with a pure white two inch head. Aroma is initially a touch skunked, though that opened up and blew off quickly, revealing a really soft and natural cereal grain, wheat, grass, hay, and a nice herbal yeastiness lingering behind. Nice nose. The taste is equal measures of the cereal wheat grain and the soft herbal grass. Nicely balanced, nuanced, integrated. Even a subtle hint of citrus. The palate is medium to light bodied, soft carbonation and the lingering herbal finish. Closes out dryly with some mineral. Really well done Saison, very much in the traditional style, steers clear of the typical sweet mess of the American Saison. Bravo Green Flash.

Bottle @ home. The famed Slim Ernie beer. Fuck, they should rename it Slim Ernie Saison for drumming up all the business. This shit is now harder to find than the latest 66% abv offering from Avery. Ok ok. I found this shit on sale at Supermarket Liquor in Foco but that’s besides the point. Hazy, golden orange appearance with a big, fluffy, orangish white head. Very nice aroma- dry, barnyard, wild floral, and toned down orange-lemon citrusy. Really a light, velvety mouth feel. Floral, big barnyard, musty, lightly spicy, dry, herbal hoppy, mineral, lightly citrusy flavor with a lingering dry finish. Great beer but at 4.2%, I think I’m going wash the rest of this down with a Rumpkin chaser. EDIT: My dad walked by, saw my glass, and said, "Ewww. That cost $9?!!! Aaron, how can you afford expensive beer like that?" "Dad, would you rather I drank wine and spent $20-30 per bottle?" "Aaron, don’t be silly. Bottles of wine do not cost $20-30." HAHAHAHA.
