Our Summer Saison is a delicious golden farmhouse ale, brewed with orange peel, ginger, and grains of paradise. A very refreshing, Belgian-inspired summer ale.

22oz bottle, batch that was sent to Kansas a few months ago. Great looking pour, thick sticky head, dark straw-golden color. Everything is great until I smell it. Orange peel is overpowering, same in the flavor. When I can look past that the base beer seems very nice and clean. But the orange peel is overpowering, tastes like Sunkist in my beer. Couldnโt drink too much past that.

Nice lightly hazy golden coloured body with a very thick and luscious off-white creamy head that leaves a superb lace. Aroma of yeast, corn, light sugars, apricots, pears, a touch of light spice and an interesting, but definite kick of plastics. Medium-bodied; Assertive effervescence with a yeastie and wheatie kick, some light hay and grass soon afterwards, a touch of barnyard funk and a little dry hops near the end. Aftertaste is quite airy and floral with some coriander seed, a touch of grass, a little floral hops, but mostly a dry yeast note with a very minimal amount of fruity sweetness. Overall, a decent, if not mild saison with some good tastes, but not enough complexity for the style to wow. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Total Wine in Alexandria, Virginia on 09-October-2011 for US$7.99 sampled at home in Washington on 20-October-2011.

Rerate - waaaayyyy to sulphuric. Rotten eggs in the nose. Light, a touch of funk, but not nearly as dry or funky as it should be. Not enough body, but that reflects the low abv. Refreshing summer beer, but not a real Saison.

Served on draft at Whole Foods Market, Charlottesville, VA on 7/18/11. Pours a hazy straw color with a large creamy offwhite head. Good head retention and lacing. Bready aroma with notes of nuts, stone fruits, banana and a hoppy finish. The taste is nutty and grainy with tart stone fruits and a hoppy finish. Medium bodied.

Funk, coriander, and slightly overripe whole lemon aroma. Shimmering amber, thick sudsy head, some lace. Watery mouthfeel. Light malt and ginger flavor. Moderately funky. The ginger isnโt working for me and there is little there without it too.

Bottle. Underwhelming. A very simple-tasting saison. Iโm not getting much, if any, of the spice, besides a touch of ginger. The aroma is better than the taste and comes across mildly citric with some good malt notes. The taste is just kinda sweet and just barely saison-ish. It actually comes across fairly watery. This is probably my least favorite Green Flash beer, so far.

Bomber from the Co-Op in Davis, CA. Pours dishwater gold with a foamy 4 finger dirty white head. Aroma is spicey/earthy. Essence of saison. Medium body, mild carbonation. Flavor, not body, seems watery, and the earthiness is light while the hop is rather strong, in a peppery way. For me the flavor and body doesnโt match the marvelous aroma. Wah! Good drink though. Pepper builds for the finish.
