Our Summer Saison is a delicious golden farmhouse ale, brewed with orange peel, ginger, and grains of paradise. A very refreshing, Belgian-inspired summer ale.

Cloudy to hazy golden with a medium off white head. Sweet and yeasty aroma with wheat, spices and pale malt. Flavour was fairly dry with wheat, spicy hops, fruit and yeasty notes. Finished dry and slightly bitter.

Sampled on draft at Zeno’s in State College PA this beer poured a cloudy bright yellow-apricot color with a medium sized white head. The aroma was dryish, tart and musty with notes of lemon and orange. The flavor was tangy, sugary and had notes of ripe pear and apricot. There was lightly musty undertone and a touch of spice. The finish was medium length and the body was fairly thick. Sweeter than I am used to in the saison style but I liked it.

On tap at Stone. Pours with a hazed yellow body with minimal lace. Aroma of grass, pepper, straw, banana esters, light plastic and sun tan lotion. Taste is a pretty highly hopped saison with bitterness, straw, dough, green pepper, orange peel and grass. Kind of an oddly slick mouthfeel, that is a bit thin with light bubbles.

(10/31/08) Draught sample at Blue Palms in Hollywood (thanks Brian for the free beer!). Hazy golden. Aroma of fresh tropical fruits, apricot, peach and some other fruits, spicy hints and a bit of flowers. Sweet fruity flavor with some malt, spicy yeasty notes, some wheat and a drier finish. Medium-bodied. Very pleasant.

From tap at the brewery. Pours hazy yellow with a creamy white head. Wheaty and slight estery fruity aroma. Smooth wheaty flavour and mild spiced. Mild spiced and smooth finish. Nice and refreshing and not overly spiced nor estery.

Honestly, this has a pretty insipid yellow colour. Lightly fruitiy/estery on the nose and the malts are really husky. Kind of creamy/underfermented taste, a big no-no in this style. Light spice and ester but it’s too little too late...I really hated this.

Draught. The sample I had at the brewery was called " SUNSET Saison". If this is a different one, a Ca. admin ought to shift this to a new entry Good, very dense white head, fed by good carbonation in golden beer. Weird, part spicy, part mashtemperature-on-the-ramp aroma; bit fruity-yeasty. Same impression: yeast-fruity, and to "hot". Maybe a tad of wheat? Bit aggressive MF, carbonation imposing. Temperature control, please. Saison is not cooked in the fermenters, at least not in Belgium.
