Tasting Notes: A dessert-like version of our English-style brown ale brewed with loads of hand crushed, roasted local Italian chestnuts. Subtle aromas of chestnuts, coffee, dark fruit and toffee lead to deep flavours of salted caramel and chocolate with hints of vanilla and a balanced sweetness.

Very nice latte foam on a dark deep brown body. Aroma is very good cocoa and brown sugar, soft plum. Taste is mellow brown sugar, thin molasses, coffee hints, ends thin and a little wet. Some nice elements, but ultimately it's simply okay.

On tap at Luppolo, pours a hazy dark reddish brown with a small beige head. Aroma brings out toasted nuts, bready malt and some vegetal notes from the chestnuts. Flavour is along the same lines, with toasted caramel, bready malt and some herbal nuttiness. Pleasant enough but nothing special.

Chestnut colour. Thin head. Nutty aroma with just a touch of caramel. Light bitterness, medium sweetness. Malt character nut-oriented. Good brown ale, chestnut flour not doing much, thankfully since I haven’t bren impressed with too many Italian chestnut beers.

Dark amber colour. Robust Brown Ale, with excellent notes of roasted malts and nuts. Lean mouthfeel. --- Beer merged from original tick of Chestnut Brown on 10 May 2018 at 19:29 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 6 | Flavor - 8 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 7.5. Dark color, almost black. The aroma is light, but there is an excellent malt expression in the flavor, deep without being sweet, nutty, caramelly.
Very good.
