Poptones started life as a hoppy pale ale fermented with clean ale yeast to which we added our house farmhouse cultures for a long, slow secondary fermentation in stainless steel, followed by a long maturation in French oak barrels that previously held white wine.

Bottle from Deconinck. Clear golden, small, foamy, white head. Aroma of white grape, melon, apple peel, pear, mandarin, lemon zest, sourdough, clove. Taste has sweet-sour grape, apple & pear over sourdough maltiness with lemony, bit lactic notes - funky, yeasty. Tart, lemony finish, yellow fruit lingering as well as grape, oak & dry white wine. Medium body, slick-moussy texture, average carbonation. Refreshing.

Cloudy pale golden, tall and loose foamy white head, lasts for some time, patchy lacing. Sour aroma, lemon, vinegar, barnyard, oakey notes in the distance. Sour taste, lemon, brett, funky barnyard, touch of oak. Light body, lively carbonation, bitterness in the sour aftertaste, oak more prominent, good.

Clear blond colour with thin head. Aroma and flavour have light funky barnyard notes. Only a light tartness. Dry and slightly bitter finish from the hop and wood.

500mL bottle, pours a cloudy golden with a small white head. Aroma is loaded with lots of barnyard funk, some oak, and a touch of citrus. Flavour is along the same lines, with barnyard funk, some light oak, and wild yeast. Funky, brett-y and somewhat bitter on the finish. Very good.
