650ml bottle. Leftover from the previous day tasting at Alex's, hehe. Pours a clear dark brown with a tan head. Aroma is caramel, some roasted malt, and dried fruits. Taste is similar with nuts notes. Maybe it is a bit harsh and just a bit more bitter than I would prefer, but it's surprisingly good.

Bottle from The Gull, North Vancouver
Dark brown colour with frothy head. Toasted malts, sweet dark caramel, nutty, and strong oak character; a bit warming too.
Pleasant brew.

Caramela nd some cherry notes. Deep dark brown with a small beige head. Dark toffee and some roast with a long finish and a touch of anise. As it warms the hops start to come through.

Reddish-brown, it's harsh, husky, not good. On the palate, the same. A mess of alcohol, some husky, toasty malts,

650mL bottle, pours a deep dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma is rather convoluted and jumbled, with caramel malt, bready notes and light hops. Flavour is along the same lines, with caramel malt, bready notes, and cough syrup. Very sweet and medicinal. Poor.

On tap at the brewery. Has a smell of soft roasted barley grains, a nice foam and a bit of black body. Flavour is mellow heavy barley with some molasses syrup to back it up. Mouthfeel is heavy and cloying with no crispness to be found for miles. It's an okay barley wine but still not aggressive nor memorable enough.
