Imperial Oatmeal Milk Stout

Plague of Angels is an Imperial Stout brewed with a large portion of unmalted and malted oats, along with dark roasted specialty malts. Lactose (milk sugar) was added at the end of the boil to balance the dark, roasted character with a subtle sweetness.

Sweetish, creamy and lactic sourish with some earthiness and roastiness. A bit messy.

TCBW2024. Black colour, small brown head, which leaves some lace. Aroma is liquorice, some biscuits, lactose and roasted tones with chocolaty and mild toffeeish tones too. Flavour is quite much following the same pattern, but does show a little bit of alcohol as well.

Sample@TCBW2024. Opaque colour and small beige head. Grassy, milk coffee aroma. Light-bodied to medium-bodied. Caramel, milky, toasted. Feels like 5% beer.

Draft pour at Holy Mountain, Phinney Ridge. Cola brown appearance, tan foam ring. Very milk chocolate heavy, cream body. Dense, flavorful rich malts. Thick, lactose, vanilla, chocolate finish. Unique and enjoyable brew.

500mL bottle, pours black with a medium tan head. Nose brings out lots of lactose, oats, moderate roasted malt, and a hint of earthy coffee. Flavour is roasty and hearty, with lots of roasted malt, hearty oats, gentle lactose, and a touch of coffee. Hearty, balanced and robust. Excellent.
