Tasting at Matt's; corked bottle
Cloudy amber colour. The aroma of wood and Belgian yeast has a spicy and fruity character. Bone dry mouthfeel, mildly lemony, the yeast is too strong, it's a bit spicy, with final astringency.
Besides that Bière de Garde doesn't mean anything, it's not what people expect, it's a good Sour ale.

750mL bottle, pours a deep dark amber orange with a small beige head. Aroma is quite earthy and fruity, with sweaty notes, earthy yeast, and some rustic farmhouse yeast. Flavour is quite fruity and earthy, with some esters, light oak, and rustic farmhouse yeast. Fairly fruity and earthy on the finish, with more esters. Not bad.

Hazy, and with a very light amber colour. Thin head. On the nose, this has bubblegum and nail polish right off the top, in inauspicious start. On the palate, more of the same - high phenols - and then a bit of tartness and maybe some brett. Hm. Way too phenolic - that's most of the beer. This is a miss, on the fermentation for me. The treatment in the barrel isn't going to do much about this.

750ml bottle (thx, Jonathan D.!) at Matt's. Pours a hazy golden with a white head. Aroma is very fruity, some soapy notes, a bit peppery. Similar taste with barrel notes. Quite good.

Bottle - Touch of sweetness and soured funk. Cloudy copper with a decent white head. Nice funk and some grainy sweetness.
