Personal contribution @ Rampkrot Whale tasting – 25 cl. Bottle nr. 6869 sampled. Obtained in a trade thx to ClubGonzo. Appearance is surprisingly murky amber brown, very murky, little head. Nose is touch pumpkin, thick caramel, sugar, very sweet, flowers, touch vegetables, oddly stingy sake yeast, spices,… Taste is bitter thick caramel, sugar goo, light roots, bitter sake yeast, stingy, spices, bitter spices, ginseng, flowery, seeds, alcohol noticeable in the back, some burn, Chinese spices, very thick malts, herbal, burning spices,… Thick malts, little carb. Been interested about this for a while, interesting, glad to try it finally, not bad.

Bottle shared at Rampkrot Whale Tasting thanks to 77ships. Pours lousy orange brown with a small off white head. Aroma of ripe fruit, caramel, toffee. Flavour is heavy sweet and moderate bitter, with warming alcohol in the finish. Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation.

Bottle. An unclear one, copper to brown in color and with a small, light beige head. The aroma is lightly alcoholic and sugary, less fruity than 2nd edition, and with a hint of something similar to yeast. Sweet and warming in the mouth, rather flat. Tropical fruits, some caramel hints and quite a lot of heat. Sweet and warming finish. Compared to the 2nd edition, this one is sure rougher and more alcoholic, it will be interesting to see how this one developes. AS it is now, it’s nice, but I’d rather drink the 2nd edition. 120330

Small beige head. Clear deep dark red body. Intense fruity earthy aroma with red bean, lime, and licorice notes. Not nearly as disharmonic as it probably sounds. Dry-sweet earthy licorice taste with peppery spicy herbal notes. (In fact, that earthy herbal licorice flavour reminds me of "sisselrot". No idea what it is in English.) Mid-bodied. Dryish earthy licorice aftertaste with herbal peppery chocolate and mint notes. Interesting, and really unusual. (0.25l bottle, wine monopoly, web order.)

25 cl bottle @ wPBF’13, bottle #08964. Batch #742, brewed 20.12.2011, BBE 20.12.2016
Vertical with 2. edition.
Aroma is quite light with some raisins and ripe fruits. Flavour is quite hoppy and sweet with biscuits, yeasty notes, raisins and ripe fruits. Much hoppier than 2. edition, not sure which one is better. Perhaps the second due to better drinkability.
