Bourbon Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout

Elegant, innovative, complex: Black Tuesday provides a uniquely elevated beer-drinking experience unlike any other. Rich, complex flavor from time spent aging in bourbon barrels mingles effortlessly with distinct notes of crème brûlée, poached figs, and milk chocolate. Surprisingly smooth at 19.7% ABV, this is a beer you won’t soon forget.

Aged beautifully, lovely soft bourbon, roast, no edge or harshness. Hides the 19% well with smooth chocolate and dried red fruits

(Draught at Man in the Moon, Stockholm, 20 Feb 2024) Black colour with brief, beige head. Malty, roasted, vinous nose with sweet espresso, dark chocolate, muscovado sugar, raisins, port wine and black-currant. Malty, vinous taste with notes of sweet espresso, cacao, sweet liquorice, peat, tar, port wine, oak wood, black-currant, raisins and a balanced roasty bitterness in a vinous finish. Full body, sweet. Strong and powerful. Complex and rich. Not overly balanced, but so rich and tasty. Great beer!

Draft. Final beer at Tjaps Taphorst 3th of February 2024. It surely was a great festival. Very good BA strong beers at this edition. Color: Black, no head. Aroma: Licorice, roasted malt, Bourbon. Taste: Again licorice in front. Roasted malt, Bourbon, boozy, warming mouthfeel. Bourbon is not overwhelming in this case. Hints of coffee. Dry-ish finish. Full body, low carbonation. Great slow sipper, although personally it's still a bit sharp (young) and the licorice is a bit too much for me.

Pours a black colour and a brownish head that doesn't last long. Aroma's: boozy, sweetish, with chocolate retronasal. Flavour is moderate sweet, alcohol, chocolate. Burning alcohol feel. Medium bodied. Long finish, boozy and roasty. Not nearly as spectacular as the 2012 bottle I had last year.

Hot boy with a bit of a peat to it. A bit too boozy for my liking at 21%

Black with beige head. Chocolate, lots of bourbon, barrel, dark fruit, some cherries. Drinks easier than 19%. Full bodied.
